I would much rather see a film about Peter founding the church and the struggles of the early church, or about Paul traveling to spread the message. Those seem like much more interesting, original, untrod narratives. I'm not religious but from a historical perspective I would rather see those stories be told. However Passion 2 will get the box office draw.

The trouble is that he gets rather erratic once he arrives in Jerusalem. He started spending money on luxuries for himself (the foot oil Judas was mad about), tried to put a curse on a fig tree for not bearing fruit out of season, and trashed the temple because he didn't like the moneychangers (which was justifiable but hardly consistent with his message of nonviolence). There was no real Jesus. All the tales of him in the bible are made up from several folk heroes and myths. The stories were even more compacted into one person when Constantine and the council of Nicaea heavily edited things. They essentially took several gods, deities, demons, and devils split apart their personalities and recombined them into 3 characters, Jesus, God, and Lucifer.
