I imagine the ultimate moral of the prophecies, and the figure(s) they relate to, to be something like pic related. Basically, in really tough times, people like this are a necessary evil.
I do believe some form of magic exists in the asoiaf universe, and that magic/god/whatever is throwing up heroes, exceptionally powerful individuals (Jon, Dany being the most obvious candidates). By the position i would say that she got stabbed in the gut, and the slash surely wasn't that deep, so she probably would be able to walk 10 to 20 minutes after adrenalin set in before she couldn't take it anymore and passed out.
