Low birth rates coincide when a higher standard of living is achieved then birth rates drop dramatically. Lots of European countries are experiencing it but so are the Japanese, Taiwanese, UAE (who only sustaining population are Indian, African, and Philippine service workers) and Kuwait. A lot of reasons which include cultural, access to birth control, and women working come together to possibly explain why it happens. The best summary I've seen is that people find more ways to occupy their time than with child raising. Not because they are "cucking" themselves
You can actually see it in certain ultra wealthy enclaves in places like India despite being in a country where people have a lot of children.
