I love it, not even nostalgia since I'm not an 80's kid, it simply captures this whimsical je ne sai quoi that surrounds childhood perfectly.
>>
>>70471323
>whimsical je ne sai quoi that surrounds childhood perfectly
No, it encapsulates an idealized version of youth that doesn't really exist. And what we get is an unlikeable asshole main character that steals from his parents, lies to everyone, skips school several times for no reason, pressures his friends into doing stupid things and doesn't care about the consequences of his actions.

Ferris Beuller is great. Teaches kids to be thankful and to appreciate life without having a stick up their ass.
>>
>>70471962
You can appreciate life without skipping school for no reason, stealing your parents' money and stealing your friend's dad car. If anything it teaches kids that they're entitled to whatever they want.

I've never seen this nor Ferris Bueller. I guess it's an American thing as those movies are fairly unknown outside the US I guess. They show all kinds of US movies in Europe but I've honestly never seen this or heard anyone mention it.

>>

He just smoked weed in his moms basement. The protag has a future. Too bad the chick has a terrible home life so she's fucked in the head.
>>
>>70470522

For me, this movie came out at the perfect time (I was 15). I will never forget, was at the first raging party of my young life. Smoked pot for the first time, got drunk from a keg (and puked). There was around a half dozen of us that passed out in the living room. The next morning someone turned the TV on HBO and this movie came on. Was soooooo hungover and it absolutely justified the teenage experience.

I don't think kids today can comprehend how segmented culture was in the 80's. Internet changed everything.

Saturday Night Fever is legit the best coming of age film I've seen
>>
>>70480262

you just told me that you don't know when school ends. and it's quite clear that you're American and Republican.

also how on earth does saying that you're a retard for thinking any character that doesn't graduate with a commerce degree is worthless translate to me living with my mom

Still KIDS,
even though now when I watch it I feel an overwhelming sense of "you dumb fucks could be doing so much with your life right now" it shaped so much of my mindset during my mid to late teens.

I think it actually serves in the movies favor that I can watch it now and see the regrets and stupidity of youth where I once saw the fun and intrigue.
