What does /tv/ think of Spartacus? I'm on S4 and it's pretty good
>>70453220
I guess you're over the replacement of Andy as Spartacus already. It was jarring as shit at first but the series wraps up well and as a whole is pure tv kino.
RIP OG Sparty
I miss this show
>>70453361
Watching the first episode I thought this show was complete shit, but it proved itself very worthy.
RIP - Andy Whitfield, you will be missed
I think Liam does a pretty good job of filling his shoes though
>>70453466
One of the best series I've watched. First season was the best followed by Gannicus season, it went down hill, but remained great. The actress replacement for Crixus' bitch was the worst decision imo
>>70453605
Jupiter's Cock that's a good quote
Show is probably in my top 10 despite it being pure ridiculous schlock. Actually, its probably because its so unapologetic and unpretentious schlock that I love it so much.
Andy's death is a true tragedy but I think Liam did a great job. The last few episodes especially got me teary eyed. I met Liam in real life and he seemed like a cool guy too. Great show.

It's amazing this show had a gay couple that didn't feel shoehorned in and SJW at all. They were actually based characters.
>>70453605
Fucking loved it when this guy would say that
>>70453220
>Game of Thrones for gays
>>70453798
I noticed this especially with Agro, they didn't force that at all. You didn't even know till you saw him with the slave
>>70453790
Was it rape?
>>70453897
>implying there's anything gay about appreciating the male form
>>70453937
And it felt real and natural.
But nothing beats Gannicus.
>>70453897
Fuck though, most of the guys in that show made me sad. Made me wanna quit watching tv and start working out. Then there's some bloody sex scene and I didn't care anymore
>>70453897
>being uncomfortable at the sight of male dick
There's plenty of lady tits too for you kiddo.
>>70453220
I was pretty disappointed with the last two seasons (the actual rebellion). Felt they could have made it a lot cooler -- showing an actual rebellion. They did this for the first few episodes of S3, but then they just fucking stayed in one area. Felt like Walking Dead S2, just wasted potential. S1 was godtier and S2/S1.5 whatever it's called was pretty good.
>>70453790
that scene where he finds his wife dead in batiatus' caravan
>>70454018
When he lost his wife and then gf it would open up a can of feels for me
Just finished s1 and it was great. Like another anon said, it was unapologetically hammy soap opera stuff but it embraced the cheese and ended up being really entertaining. It's like current GoT minus the pretense of being some complicated drama.

>Made me wanna quit watching tv and start working out.
I got the same impulse.
>>70453220
Season 1: GOAT. If it ended there, I wouldn't have minded. Andy Whitfield made the show.
Season 2/Prequel: GOAT. They were waiting for Andy to get better and said "Who doesn't want more Batiatus?" And the answer was no one. We all wanted more.
All other seasons: Garbage. Severe lack of Whitfield and Batiatus.
>>70453995
Wouldn't be realistic at all if they were constantly moving a massive army around and not doing any planning or gathering while waiting to attack when it's best
>>70453966
>Gannicus
Hell yea. Gannicus is the one television/film character who perfectly encapsulates who I am in personality and appearance.
>>70454260
Nah dude. The kinship between New Sparatcus and Crixius was awesome.
>>70454260
Shit opinion
>>70454260
I liked s3 and s4 desu, really fucking good imo. Unfortunately no Andy, but Liam did a pretty good job of filling his shoes.
And there wasn't as much slow-motion, cheesy death scenes. They weren't bad scenes, just sorta killed the mood for me.
>>70454310
>characters that are literally you
>>70454310
sure, bud. Probably closer to crixus' personality and batiatus' appearance
>>70454511
Why the fuck did it change "desu" to desu
>>70454542
desu

>>70453220
It was great. The end truly came as a shock to me because I didn't know it was ending.
Loved all of it when it came out, rewatched it recently with a more critical eye
The first few episodes are terrible.
The style of the dialogue can get a bit annoying in certain contexts.
Overuse of CGI and chroma key later on, it makes it look way cheaper than it actually is.
There is a bewildering amount of gay sex, to the point where even though I love the show I'd never recommend it to anyone.
But yeah generally it's pretty great.
who team crixus here?
>>70456489
team ashur here
>>70456617
asher did nothing wrong
Julius Caesar spinoff when?
>>70453700
>The actress replacement for Crixus' bitch was the worst decision imo
The original actress left the show for more money. Apparently Andy wasn't dying fast enough during the hiatus and she couldn't wait for her "career".
>>70457037
Its called ROME. Both are very enjoyable shows in different ways. Both are on my top 10 list.
Anyone else here going to watch Andy's documentary?
>tfw based Bennett still mentions it on his twitter to people
>>70457105
I remember Manu Bennett talking about this. He's a stand up guy so he was polite about it.
https://youtu.be/9iDg344CTZM?t=19m20s
Manu is really awesome. He was recently torturing "Olicity" shippers (from Arrow) on his Twitter.
>>70457256
>Its called ROME
I love ROME, but it's apples and oranges and you know it.
There was a season 4?
>>70457840
pretty sure netflix calls War of the Damned (s3) season 4 and the prequel season s2
