I think the biggest problem with Apocalypse was that the final confrontation was just shooting the bad guy with lasers and shit. This is the first X-Men movie where it was something that simple and mind numbing. Also, Sophie Turner was fucking awful and ruined every scene she was in.

DOFP and Apocalypse were both top tier.
Even just a couple of the scenes from both completely destroy anything MCU or DC has pumped out.
Michael Fassbender is a top tier actor.
