It's a cloverfield movie, we already know about the aliens it would have been dumb to make a cloverfield without aliens. The ending would have been aweful if it was trying to make you wonder who was telling the truth when there's a first film where you see the aliens and you see people getting infected.

Cloverfield was not horror at all though, and I'm the kind of guy who watches horror films with the lights turned on and turn the sound down.

There was absolutely nothing in the movie that got me slightly scared.
