I DO like the base idea in The Matrix sequels that Neo and the whole concept of "the one" is just another form of control. I like that the second is about discovering that and the 3rd would be about Neo becoming the real saviour of humanity.
But they fucked everything up so badly that they actually FORGET about the "unplugging everyone from the matrix" idea entirely until a hand wave in the last 10 seconds and also blew all the best action in the 2nd film so the 3rd movie was boring as fuck.
