I enjoy this website more with it on.
I also spend more time browsing the /tv/ archive than I do the live website, and it's easier to read back old posts with a tripcode.
I've also made friends with a few other tripcode users, and having a persistent identity means there's even a handful of anons that I can bump into from thread to thread.
Also the more anonymous a board is, the lower the quality of posts are generally. Tripfags are accountable for the posts they make whereas anons aren't (pic related). Also anon's concept of community doesn't go much further than us v them, so having tripfags around in healthy populations as a common enemy prevents them from turning on each other and calling each other reddit or /pol/ or whatever other thing that isn't /tv/.
Tripfags have utility. Just look at /tv/ now if you want to disagree. In 2012, the best year in /tv/ history imo, we had like 30 or 40 tripfags. Now we have about 3, and one of them is Krager. Think before you post.
