To be fair, the reason BvS had such a "large" opening and huge drop is because of ticket presales. Huge marketing, review embargo, synchronized international release, and opening on an international holiday weekend meant huge presales, which meant everyone who was dumb enough to think snyder could make a good movie had no reason to think otherwise until they personally saw it.
Conversely, because of ticket presales, there are no longer the situations of huge amounts of people being turned away night after night because they sold the last ticket to the last show with 400 people still waiting in line. So there are no longer those scenerios where headlines read "[shitty blockbuster] sells out completely fifth night in a row! must be best movie ever!!" creating compounding hype.
