My father and I watched it together since we watched X-Files in the past, and he couldn't believe how awful that ep was. After about 20 minutes I wrote the ep off and started laughing at how terrible it was, he was silent and I could tell it upset him a bit. Took him weeks before he would watch another episode.

The lizard episode was by far the best one from the revival and justified the whole thing in my eyes.
I have no idea how someone can have seen the first 5 seasons and not enjoy it.

The only good episodes from the revival were the lizard one and the spooky children one, which just felt like an average but well-done episode from the classic run.
The premiere and finale episodes made me want to kill myself, the mushoom episode was a couple of decent jokes weighed down by a lump of a narrative, and the golem episode would have been decent if it didn't have "Scully Has Crisis Of Faith #476".
Also I don't give a flying fuck about William, Chris Carter. No one cares about the alien baby, not one person in the history of the fandom gives one wet shit about their fucking kid.

Only good episode were the lizard man, but that alone cannot justify a season in my eyes. They fucking missed everything that made the original 5-6 seasons good, all the intrigue and mystery was gone. Maybe it's just impossible to capture the feel of the earlier seasons, so making another season is futile.

I actually thought the new season was pretty good. I loved the lizard man episode. There were a couple shitty episodes, but I don't think the rest of the episodes were too bad.
I honestly think the same thing can be said about the first few seasons too though. There are plenty of good episodes, but there's a few shit ones sprinkled throughout also. Regardless, I love the show, so I'm probably biased.
