Who would /tv/ have direct and produce a Dark Souls film? I think that the setting of the Dark Souls games would work really well for a very focused, character-centric, film that shows rather than tells, much like the games.
But who could pull something like that off without it just being boring?

I think the only way you could do a Dark Souls movie would be to make an anthology about all of the side characters. Even then it would probably still be shit because it's a Dark Souls movie.
Even if the setting is interesting (it actually is), the focus of the game is the struggle of the anonymous character, there would be no drama if the protagonist can't really die. Also, the motives to keep progresing in the game are extremely vague, so you would have a very fragmented and boring Movie, or something completely unfaithful to Dark Souls itself.
Nope, Mad Max it, have the characters say almost nothing and just show things, mostly scenery porn with some nice music to set the mood to interesting visuals. The main character doesnt talk at all in the game, do not give the main character a backstory and personality in an adaptation when there isnt one in the first place, thats asking for trouble, he is "determined guy going somewhere" and thats it.
Establish that the character has to do X and the intrigue of the movie comes from surmounting obstacles on the path to doing X. Keep it simple, you dont want to get bogged down in walls of ambiguous dialogue and world building, the visuals should do that.

Honestly If I have to watch a movie based on a game with no dialogue, settings that are very large and empty but very atmospheric, and a vaguely medieval setting, I'd rather see a Shadow of the Colossus movie.
