>my opinions are facts
You do understand that if a movie gets critical praise then it's mostly consider a good movie right?

It's a mystery
>>
>>70272249
He's a pretty successful producer and he makes money for the studios.
>>
>>70272352
Aside from TFA, none of them have been critically acclaimed, dummy
>>
>>70272249
because he's spielberg's illegitimate son
>>
>>70272410
MI3 is the lowest thing he's directed on rt and it's got a 70%. The next highest is super 8 and that's at 82. Hell the first star trek reboot has a 95, how can you argue that TFA is the only thing he's directed that's received critical praise?
>>
>>70272773
This.

The man might shit all over franchises and make complete mockeries of them to their fans, whether it be Star Trek, Mission Impossible, Star Wars or what have you, but he does have a knack for winning positive reviews from critics. How? We may never know.

He makes shekels
On a slightly unrelated note, I'd say JJ's movies are the perfect example of critics being fucking terrible.

All his films made money, that's the bottom line really. A better question is; "why do all his films make money?"

Well he is a good 'workman' director, he makes film on time and on budget to a predictable standard. He also is pretty good at casting and has a fairly good eye for 'cool' be it a concept or scene or a particular shot.

But, he simply is moronic when it comes to story, From Alias to LOST to Star Wars, he is incapable of constructing a well thought out satisfying story, and not only is he bad at it, he actively *seeks* to be bad at it, surrounding himself with terrible writers like Kurtzman, Orci and Lindelof and firing the original Oscar winning Episode 7 writer in favour of his low teir fanfic script.

holy shit that movie was fucking awful, if this doesn't prove that critic aggregation sites are completely useless than I dont know what does

Thor 1 is a decent summer blockbuster.

Basically this.

He cranks out cookie cutter shit like a factory that's designed to run smoothly, be easily digestible, have wide appeal, and not be challenging or difficult or daring in any way. It's old school Hollywood.

When you can only pick directors from a small pool of people loyal to your cause you are unlikely to find talent. They just needed someone competent enough to butcher star trek and star wars as part of their ongoing social engineering schemes.

Consistency. Consistent mediocrity is preferable to the extreme ends of quality. Less gamble.
