Yes Warcraft is a good universe despite being the result of a failed Warhammer attempt. That does not make the movie a good translation of said universe by any means whatsoever. The trailers look totally different to the actual film, it's fucking weird, like they had an intern do post production and he fucked it all up.
Somehow they managed to make the actual metal props, look plastic.
I have a pet theory for why critics don't like it (they're afraid of the lack of detachment from the movie, this is also why marvel and star wars did so well, those movies detach themselves massively)

The CGI in Warcraft is a billion times better than The Hobbit. It's weird to say it but the Orcs look much more real and like they fit in the world, on the other hand the humans look more fake with their real armour.

I think they should have made everything fully animated. The art style of warcrraft is cartoonish, and they tried to imitate that in the film, which is fine. But the cartoonish style applies to humans as well in the games, but they somehow thought it was a good idea to make everything cartoonish except for the humans. Stupid decision.

fuck 3d. Saw the movie with chipped and smudged 3d glasses that i was forced to pay extra for. Brightness exactly as if i was wearing sunglasses. The best I can say is that after 15 minutes I got used to it and forgot that it was 3d.
