Well, the first movie was made as a time loop.

But the 2nd movie changed all that, and in order for it to make sense, it would have to be retconned that first movie isn't actually a time loop, but merely appeared to be.

There would have to be an original timeline where skynet originated organically, without a future piece of technology to kick start it. We never see this one.
