If you count, he killed 12 motherfuckers. But I think he got shanked by the 9th or the 10th.
The purpose it served was to remove all tension when Ser Jorah was down in the fighting pits. Obviously since they had just killed Ser Barristan they weren't going to kill Ser Jorah so soon after because then Dany would have no military adviser.
