Blizzard are massively arrogant and have the same narrow minded view that a lot of other studios have now; that there's only one truly correct way to design games.
Dota wasn't really designed, it grew organically on it's own over time and that happened without any input from any professional game designers or studios. The existence and success of WC3 dota is like an anathema to studios like Blizzard. The success of Dota and also series like Souls, flies in the face of a lot of conventional game design wisdom espoused by many triple A studios because it just deliberately ignores a lot of it and goes against their "correct" ways of doing things.
