>Early tracking before the June 10 opening indicates that domestic performance for “Warcraft” may be held back by underwhelming reviews with projections for a moderate $25 million opening weekend — a downbeat result given its $160 million budget. Should that estimate hold, “Warcraft” will likely be heading for a third or fourth-place finish behind openings of New Line’s “The Conjuring 2” and Lionsgate’s “Now You See Me 2” along with the second weekend of Paramount’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.”
>$25 million opening
T-this can't be happening! this was supposed to be the beginning of vidyakino
No shit. Only turbo nerd virgins were excited for this.
m8, everyone knew this was going to flop
Flopcraft

WEW LAD

I'm a turbo nerd virgin and I feel offended for being associated with the assgoblins that were excited for this crap

It missed it's viability window a decade ago just like the Tenacious D movie.
>dad died
>movie flopped
>new kid on the way
HE'LL BE FINE
China will carry it to the top.
It's going to be like Transformers 4 and Pirates Of The Carribean 4.
No one in the U.S. will watch it but it will be a huge hit internationally and Americans will be scratching their heads wondering why another sequel is on the way.
>>70063250

We're moving into the anime films now. First capeshit, now we're slowly moving into a million anime films.
>>70063446
This. I've lost count of bad movies that flopped domestically but made their budget back and way more counting international sales.
>>70063542
name three movies this happened to

this didn't really make its budget back, but i see your point.

The movie is like 10 years too late to capture the Warcraft fad.

Good. I hope it causes the death of Metzen's career. He's responsible for this retcon garbage and fucking destroys the lore at every turn.
>>70064080
Definitely opening behind Conjuring 2.
I think they're being insanely confident about NYSM 2.
That's going to perform like Neighbors 2 or The Hangover 3.
>>70063446
The studio gets next to nothing from those ticket sales. American box office is still very relevant to a movie's success. China is "potential" returns.
>going to see it tomorrow
>might end up wasting my money 2 weeks from now when americans get to see it and decide it's trash
Americans please watch the movie.
I fucking hate Asia.
I saw it yesterday. It's... not good.
Not as terrible as I dreaded from the reviews and the trailers but the actor performance was pretty abysmal and the story is shit. The action scenes were ok though and the magic was rendered well. I still enjoyed it because it's Warcraft but I can see why someone who is not in the universe would find it crap. I would give it a 5/10
>>70064185
They get like 15% of China.
Better than nothing.

Pacific Rim
>>70064844
The first video game movie to break the barriers down will be a mass-demographic light-hearted action movie with high production values. Spider-Man and Iron Man type deal, not a kids movie or an "AH MA GAAAAAAAAHD" video game in movie form.
A live-action adaptation that combines Portal/Portal 2 would work. A more adventurous, less isolation-horror Metroid maybe.
>>70063542
You have to consider that the studio gets a far smaller % of the gross from international sales.
This movie flopped because the majority of its fan base are ironically just like this board in the sense that they dont go outside and rather pirate their movies
Coincidentally will whine that this movie flopped
>>70065094
That movie was called Tomb Raider. The time was not right for it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAUW20gbEz8
Why are reviews allowed 2 weeks before the movie opens? Seems like a really shitty practice to me
It was really underwhelming.
You might get something out of it as a Warcraft fan but i can see how anyone unfamiliar with the universe would find it complete shit.
The pacing is horribly off, shitloads of characters and locations with no real introduction. The characters are cardboard cutouts without depth and devoid of any personality. The story revolves around the characters and their conflicts, however if you dont give a shit them you won't give a shit about the story either.
Soundtrack was as generic as it gets, Ramin Djawadi is terrible.
Gul'dan was cool though. CGI and spells were awesome.
They should have done Arthas becoming the Lich king instead
Way more focused story
>>70063081
of course it flopped, it should have come out like 7-9 years ago. Haven't watched it and have no interest although I'm impressed with some of the CGI.
I tried playing the game recently after a 6 year vacation, it isn't the same game
>>70067621
Thanks for killing my hype anon. Not worth seeing at all? I want to see a brutal fantasy movie and Warcraft seemed like it was...
>>70063081
>Warcraft projected to make 500 million in China
>broke records in Russia
>projected to do well in Europe
>flop
It won't flop whether it's shit or not.
>>70063081
>vidyakino
Literally never gonna happen. Any that played the game will have already seen the story and not care about the movie, and whoever didn't play the game don't give a fuck about video game movies. Most games are bare bones stories. Even the best game stories are essentially too long for a movie, an rpg game can be 20-30 hours long, a movie is 2-3 hours long so it deals with the same problems they have with adapting books, without any of the brand power a book can have like lord of the rings.
I just want a critically acclaimed and successful blockbuster movie that isn't owned by Disney
is it too much to ask?
>>70068374
Deadpool
>>70064063
>167 million Worldwide
Oh fuck my sides.
Critics are retarded desu. Most critics barely review films. If a narrative doesnt fit their agenda they call it toxic or problematic, make some silly quip about it, and give the next generic marvel capeshit a 5/5.
I'm not even a conspiracy theorist, but it seems like any major film that does something risky gets savaged by critics. Jupiter Ascending, BvS, now Warcraft. I'm sick of Disney's monopoly. The only reviews that matter are Armond's and Richard's anyway. Opening night for me
>>70068240
if you're desperate for fantasy or you like Warcrafts artstyle and universe, give it a try. Its fun in the way a michael bay movie can be fun, if that helps.
Just don't go in expecting a masterpiece.
>>70068851
The key word here is brutal. I want to see a BRUTAL fantasy movie. Is this brutal? Also is there tons of magic? Because there hasn't been a fantasy movie who has done magic well yet imo. I want this to be brutal and magical. Is it those things? Otherwise, dropped.
>>70068831
>movie panders to SJWs and numales with their multiracial crap
>they hate it
Pretty interesting agenda they got there, amirite?
>>70068927
The magic is actually done really well.
Its pg-13 though, its not brutal.
>>70068965
Reviewers are calling it racist actually. No joke.
https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/may/25/world-of-warcraft-the-beginning-review-end-already-nigh
>>70068971
How bout the main orc good guy? Doesn't he get savagely killed? From what I heard. Is that scene brutal?
The trailers were awful.
Cartoon CGI with dubstep.
It looked like a Syfy channel movie with a bigger budget.
>>70068971
to expand on that, you see neck-snapping, heads being bashed in with giant maces etc, but never any human blood. No real gore, only green orc blood, not even blood-smeared weapons or armor.
the violence is kept pg-13
>>70063081
Looks like the foreign market is going to top the BO for Warcraft while NA is underwhelming. >>70063291
>>70069066
he gets his soul sucked out, looked cool but not what i'd call brutal
