Europeon movies are post modern garbage with no sense of structure.

Netflix is localized everywhere. Some European countries probably already have over 20% of it's content made in EU. So I don't see the reason why they wouldn't agree, European shows are probably lot cheaper to license etc. Only the viewers who want more American shows suffer.
>>
EU is cancer. #Brexit
>>
>>70010959
You're from northern Europe? Then you've already had these rules regarding local radio and television content for years.

Whether you agree or not, they're just trying to make sure Netflix and Amazon comply with the same rules as other distribution channels.

This doesn't mean they'll remove non-European content, just means they'll add some shit to comply with regulations.

Just because some things have changed that doesn't mean tariffs went away. Some large sectors of the economy like Agriculture (something that also happens in Europe) are still very protected.

Yes, they're SO good that non-American nations impose quotas and force tax payers to subsidize their movie and tv industries...

Approving legislation and the budget, are just some of the non-existent powers the parliament has had for years.

And what's the tariff on Chinese steel at now? 522%? Something like that. America does impose tariffs whether you want to accept it or not.

I'm not saying tariffs are all good or all bad, I'm just saying they're used by everyone.
>>
>>70013318
Chinese steel is government subsidized

I really hope they don't do this, Netflix in the UK is shit enough as it is.

The article makes an interesting point about Crunchyroll and the workaround is retarded.

>For example, it would be hard for Crunchyroll, a service that specialises in Japanese anime, or KorTV, which streams South Korean content, to meet the requirement.

>As a result, it is proposed a mandatory exception be made for companies with "a low turnover and low audiences, as well as small and micro-enterprises".

So if you focus on a niche, you're not allowed to grow because if you grow too much you'll be triggering big daddy EU's neurosis about local culture.>>70013340

ONCE AGAIN:

If you do not like how a publishing house, a movie or record studio produces what they put out, do not consume it.

These are not local productions. They are imported works, and no one in the gol'darned states o' merika would ever suggest that James Bond would be improved by being filmed in California and 007 sporting a Boston accent. That is how far down this is. It is below the tastes of the US.

Sure, let's raise subscription prices even more by forcing them to spend much more on production.

Not only is this wrong, it is dumb.

That's it.

You're right, the steelmakers are state-owned firms. America chooses to assist its steelmakers by creating tariffs; same effect, different method.

What you should be arguing is that Chinese steel is being dumped and fucking shit up, I think that that's a good justification for the American tariff. Doesn't change the fact that America imposes tariffs to further their own interests so it shouldn't be surprising when the EU does the same, even if in this case they're being retarded about it. I'm presuming you're the same guy as >>70012805 in all this.

This is how the EU operates. When they cannot compete fairly, they kick and stomp their feet and demand quotas or force heavy levies on allowing the competition into the EU. It's protectionism at it's finest.

all these toasty americans, its simple really, if you want access to the largest economic block on earth, a single market of 500 million people, you have to pretty much do as we wish.

Dont think its worth it ? then netflix can fuck off.

MIcrosoft, Google and Facebook sure think that its a fair price to pay.
