Overall as an episode, this was stronger than Hardhome.
Hardhome had one strong 20 minute scene, but the rest of the episode was really weak.

I like the idea the wall was help built by the walkers. That the story of the last hero was just a man going to discuss terms with the others like jon going off to the wildlings. The whole ice swords closing in on him presented like it's his death could be a man just going to out to discuss terms to bring an end to the war. The result. An ice wall that blocks the psychic link of wargs, the others can't warg corpses beyond the wall. So the wall is built, then the night fort and the Nights King a human marries an other queen.
