First of all, it's fine to enjoy Vanilla WoW, or BC, or even Wrath. But you can't say that vanilla or it's subsequent expansions didn't have flaws. Vanilla is literally the worst version of World of Warcraft, not saying it has no entertainment value, it has tons. But as an MMO and as a game Vanilla is flawed to all hell. You not liking the fact that "your" game changed doesn't mean Blizzard deserves failure. Off course it's not a valid point, Vanilla WoW is bad. It's buggy as shit, it had bad balancing and the servers were atrocious. But at the time it was one of the best MMO's on the market, certainly the most popular one. Active and populated playerbase = good MMO. The game itself is shit compared to today standards, no amount of time played. I can name a couple of MMOs that were release after WoW that were better than Vanilla at launch, but it doesn't matter because they never got enough players to really make a name for themselves.
You enjoyed vanilla when it was out, it was a great experience for you. They changed that experience to avoid stagnation and you didn't like it. Doesn't mean it deserves to fail, just means you need to learn how to move on.

You're the one who framed the argument to include vanilla and all the other expansions. The point is that if people play the game now, at the peak of it's production and find the game bad, then you can't dismiss their arguments all together. Technically the game is currently at it's peak, it's better than it has ever been. Narratively it has it's ups and downs, but WoW has never been known for impeccable storytelling. You are claiming that having played the game for more than 10 years gives you more authority to judge the game, than others, when in fact it doesn't.
A good example of this is Ocarina of Time. Many claim this is the pinnacle of gaming, or that it's just a really good game. However looking at it objectively now, it is an "okay" game with many mechanical flaws. However at the time of it's release it was revolutionary. WoW in a way is the same thing, when it first came out it pretty much set the bar for MMOs, but now a days there are several MMOs that are better compare to the original release.
In conclusion, you setting your standard for judging the game on an outdated version of the game itself, already sets you up for failure. Because comparatively, any version of World of Warcraft previous to the current one, is inferior to a lot of MMOs today, in which people set their standards.
