The reason the comparison is so fucking retarded is due to conflating willing suspension of disbelief with internal consistency.
Willing suspension of disbelief is where you accept a deviation of reality because the setting has it as the norm.
For example, ASOIAF has magic, undead beings, dragons, etc. They're part of the world, so we don't need an in depth explanation as to how they would fit in ours.
Internal consistency is different.
Internal consistency is making sure willing suspension of disbelief doesn't shatter due to pulling things out your ass.
For example, if you establish white walkers are only vulnerable to Dragonglass or Valyian steel, you can't randomly shiv them with a normal knife without an explanation.
Similarly, if you don't make it clear gravity works any differently, you can't just jump off a cliff and yell WELL THERE ARE DRAGONS, AREN'T THERE?!? As justification to surviving
Likewise, when people act like colossal retards in fights, you can't just yell DRAGONS LMAO THAT MEANS THEY CAN DO ANYTHING. That goes nowhere to explaining how sword fights are sufficiently different In this world to justify acting like that.

Must have changed choreographer. I saw an interview with the guy in charge of the sword fights in season 1 and he made an effort to have Jaime and Eddard fight with very different styles, Jaime was more eastern and fluid while Eddard was more heavy handed and blunt. The dude sounded like he was pretty well versed in different styles of sword fighting.
They must have gotten rid of that guy and picked some dude who didn't know or care about swords and only went with what looked cool in his mind.
