>>69200575
That really is a good shot tho
>>69200646
I kek every time
>>69200680
highly recommend the movie. that scene is fucking amazing.
>>69200721
What film is it?
>>69200716

>Saying a film has "good cinematography"
>>69200542
>>69200971
legitimately a good shot
We need to talk about Kevin had beautiful cinematography.
>>69200542
What movie is that?
>>69200837
>long as hell
We are in an era of /tv/ where movies that last less than 3 hours are considered 'Long as hell'
>>69201272
Don't mind that guy he's a homosensual
>>69201272
im not complaining for its length. i loved that it was long. i loved everything about that movie. But we live in a generation thats Od'ing on A.D.D. so its rare for a person to sit down like a normal human being and just watch a movie without getting distracted by snapchat or some shit. so i just felt like pointing that out
>>69200783
the first part of the film is shot in wide-angle nicely composed manner and when the characters arrive to Paris the cinematography changes
this is the transition point
>>69200542
really makes you think
>>69201272
Even Hitchcock made his around 2 hours.
>>69200971
>>69201471
>even Hitchcock
>Hitchcock
>implying anything he did besides his camera work was above average
>>69201677
have to agree on that
his films aged like fine milk
>>69200575
>Tommy in the black
>Mark in the red
>this is the last time they spoke as friends
>>69201922
Is the mirror supposed to be that obvious and if so, why aren't the characters in the foreground reflected?
>>69201270
Detachment.
I loved this movie, every shot was a joy to look at.
>>69202530
>blurry crap with more blurry crap double-exposed on it
What's even good about this shot?
deep
>>69202424
It's probably not a mirror, m8
>>69202578
It's a reflection.
>>69202586
>>69201444
now I need to watch this
>>69201126
this
>>69201437
this is the time where capeshits lasts for more than two and an half hour
>>69202424
not a mirror, Andersson used a big set with a painted wall at the end
>>69202474
this one is not really a joy, mate
>>69202934
aesthetics senpai
>>69202906
Wow such a big-ass painting for one shot that will only work in that one angle. Nice (not being ironic)
>>69203059
Andersson does this kind of things. Every scene in his movies are created from zero and take months of work. Even the more complex one are done in hand made sets
>>69201557
>>69202850
a guy in the middle of the frame, cool
>>69203987
>a happy moment
>>69202713
this mustang?
>>69204678
Haven't watched it yet. Might give it a look tonight.

lmao you guys know shit about cinematography
It was all cinematography so I made it all red.
>>69205483
...perfect.
The ultimate frame of pure kino.
Tommy Wiseau is truly a genius visionary.
>>69201471
Hitchcock, the only film maker I know who openly admits to not giving a fuck about story or plot.
>>69202612
it rhymes
>>69201272
2h 40m isn't short
considering 90m is considered the rule.
>>69201866
w-what kino is this..?
>>69205940
Check out basically any french new-wave director, anon.
Could we please analyze this kino?

>>69200733
Is Anderson the best at symmetry and golden ratio? (not sure if "golden ratio" is the correct translation in English)
did Sicario get the idea for the night time shot from Ford?
>trying to take to John Ford about cinematography
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25b5TJFLHwE
>>69207467
Everything in post-1950s American cinema is in some way or another an homage to Ford and Hawks.
>>69207216
That's just a small part.
Here's the full scene.

really gotta rewatch this
>>69200663is that wall gci?
>>69207806
it's a prop
>>69206999
lolling hard mate
could you have more cliche taste? also In Bruges is fucking awful. also Apocalypse Now is a waste of a novel that is a masterpiece. The Godfather is an overrated mediocrity. Barry Lyndon is shit. TAOJJBTCRF is a waste of incredible photography which it barely holds up with a totally vacuous film. Mulholland Drive and Once Upon a Time... are total masterpieces though.
But honestly once you grow up and get out of the "tough guy gun" movies you'll probably see Hitchcock is a genius.
exquisite
>>69200680
There's a lot of great info from the Deaks on this and his other movies. They made their own lenses specially for Jesse James.
Guys
Cinematography isn't just fucking still frames of shit. It's a combo of camera angle, composition, editing, movement, etc.
What you are posting is literally just photography.
If you like this stuff maybe you should go to >>/p/ every one in a while.
>>69208032
was this from the furious movie? i remember a buss
>>69207692
what's this spooky shit?
>>69208085
do you think you're the first person to post this
>>69208127
>>69208086

>>69208101
>>69208079
Damn
>>69207967

I feel like it's a major oversight that I haven't seen it
>>69200680
One light, lots of fog. Easy.
enjoy friends...
>>69208194
yes, watch the entire Paranoia Trilogy - Klute, Parallax View and All the President's Men. All three were shot by Gordon Willis, DP of Godfather trilogy and all of Woody Allen's best movies. the guy's a legend.
>>69207264
It's not
>>69208128
no but desu I think /tv/ is pretty uneducated on shot composition anyways. Photography is a lot more elitist for some reason. Half of these stills aren't even that impressive looking and flat.
>>69205552
>>69207363
>>69208258
at least half this thread is shitposting
>>69208280
i mean the serious posts not the obvious joke posts.
>>69208219
>>69208228
yeah I love the Gordon Willis stuff I've seen. Parallax View also sounds amazing. Both are big oversights for me. Thanks man.
>>69208301
>>69206576
The fact that this is an actual scene is fucking hilarious. I'm baffled by the sheer brilliance of this kinomatographie.
No special effects here. Just some very big lights.
>>69206576
>>69207216
>>69208442
It's actual kino because it disregards everything the audience would want or expect of this movie for the sheer and pure vision of Steven Seagal.
>>69202474
Is this the Hobbit?
>>69208170
Thanks, famalama. I gotta quit drinking, I don't remember that part at all.
>>69208163

holy FUCK i loved that sequence of the film
>>69208866
Jarhead
>>69205030
Ivans Childhood? I always loved this shot. Great film all around.
when you consider its inherently anti-kino aspect ratio of 4:3, Twin Peaks has some damn fine shots
is this kino?
>>69200620
>he wasn't here last year
Hello plebbit.

Shit-tier cinematography if you ask me.
>>69209449
nothing wrong with 4:3
>muh shaaawts
>>69200669
I wanna take a knife, slit her pants and fuck her in that position
>>69205483
Blue by Derek Jarman perfectly compliments this. :')
>>69200716
>that shitty alignment of the camera movement with the zoom
Jesus, if you're going to try to pull off a gimmick at least do it right.
>>69210030
it's in French New Wave style, it's supposed to be gritty and handheld ya cunt. La Haine isn't some old Hollywood movie
>>69210111
Fucking French and their post-modernist bullshit.
>>69207609
Holy shit
>>69205030

Very cool, and very fitting to the film's subject matter. Without even looking up I think The Conversation had a handful of these too
>>69210898
my bad, screenshots often do not return any results so I didn't even try. thanks
>>69206757
I have only noticed now that you can see darker rectangles where the usual paintings in this room must hang
I wonder why the paintings for the scene were moved so high up?
>>69200646
THE FIBONACCI SEQUENCE IS IN EVERYTHING

Autism, most likely

This scene is the peak of Tarkovsky's career.
