What was his fookin problem?

He was an abomination born of incest

Hi Stannis!
>>
Unsupervised genius level psychopath left unsupervised in an archive of dark arts.

What the fuck did you expected him to turn out like? Making magic singing ice cream? That he could've sell as Icescream? No. No he was bound to kill of fuck ton of shit and become an abomination.

He LITERALLY did nothing wrong. If it became normalized that magic people mated with Muggles regularly, then eventually there would be no more magic people. He did what he did because he was a hero.
>>
>>69192410
why they say he's the strongest? he's not the one who found out about horcruxes, someone else must have done it before since it was already in the books.

Wizards can come out of non-wizard couplings. Remember that that's what a "mudblood" is after all. The only thing this would cause is fewer purebloods.

He is very powerful and evil so he really doesn't give a fuck about any of the constraints that ordinary wizards put on themselves. That is why he is so feared.

I don't recall them ever saying he was the strongest. He is very powerful but I am pretty sure Dumbledore is equal if not stronger than him.

Resurrection stone and the ring it was in are in the forest somewhere.

In the book Harry doesn't even destroy the wand, just puts it back with Dumbledore's corpse and goes on to try and live a regular life and dies without having anyone ever killing him, disarming him or beating him in any conflict.

No wand except the Elder Wand can repair another so no one's gonna be able to fix it

31 KB, 459x606
>Gellert Grindelwald (c. 1882-1998) was considered one of the most powerful Dark Wizards of all time, second only to Tom Marvolo Riddle (later known as Lord Voldemort). He was schooled at Durmstrang Institute until his expulsion. Later he fostered a friendship with Albus Dumbledore while living in Godric's Hollow for a summer with his great-aunt, Bathilda Bagshot. The two made plans to find the Deathly Hallows and wield their new-found power as Masters of Death, leading a Wizarding revolution with the aim of ending the International Statute of Secrecy and creating a benevolent global order led by wise and powerful witches and wizards that dominated Muggles. Their partnership fell apart after the two were involved in a three-way duel with Aberforth Dumbledore that resulted in Ariana Dumbledore's death.

>Grindelwald left Britain and soon stole the Elder Wand from Gregorovitch, proceeding alone with the revolution he and Dumbledore had planned. He established a power base in continental Europe at the fortress Nurmengard. Grindelwald was a complex figure, highly idealistic but marred by sociopathic tendencies and his links with the Dark Arts, a revolutionary operating outside the law. He was not a wanton killer or torturer, but he and his followers (in a single-minded and unpopular quest; one's allies must often be unsavoury characters) committed numerous crimes, including several known murders and eventually genocide. In 1945, at the height of his power, Dumbledore confronted and defeated him in a legendary duel. Grindelwald was subsequently imprisoned in his own fortress for decades, and was slain there by Voldemort in 1998 when he refused to give up information on the Elder Wand.

It didn't feel like Harry was ever fully equipped to battle Voldemort, he was a very mediocre student. I never got a sense of magical genius from him. Compared to Voldemort and Dumbledore, there were stories of how great they were when they were students, how proficient they were and how talented.
With Harry, it seemed like it was luck and not talent that won out
>>
>>69199859
You have a problem man. You seem to be only able to communicate through the use of greentext and name calling. You should work on that to better yourself.
>>
>>69200102
>It didn't feel like Harry was ever fully equipped to battle Voldemort

He wasn't, that's the entire point. If Harry has won by simply having stronger power then it would prove nothing. The point was to prove that love and friendship and belief triumph over might.

Harry was an above-average student in most areas, and had an unconventional but deep grasp of magic, which in the end allowed him to trick Voldemort. And don't forget that Harry was only a schoolboy, he could probably go toe-to-toe with teenage Voldemort in a duel. He became a renown Auror in his 20's so he probably learned a lot after.

But essentially you're right, it's not about triumph of talent, it's about the triumph of lurve and friendship. It's a Christian message.
>>
>>69200102
Part of the point

Harry wasn't special because he was powerful or awesome or skilled, he was special because Voldemort interpreted a prophecy and then made him special.

Harry is a nobody

In the books it works to say that Harry didn't need to be powerful in order to beat Voldemort but in a movie it becomes very difficult to be convinced that Harry will beat Voldemort because he had ~friendship and love.

I just needed something, it didn't even have to be with magical abilities. I wanted some moment where his sense of wit and resourcefulness could enable him to win. I never got that.

He displayed those qualities many times during the Horcrux hunt. Though of course the end was all "luck" because that's how Rowling operates - she likes to surprise the readers and it can hardly be done if we're aware of the plan.
>>
>>69200435
You're not supposed to. It was a suicide mission all along. Dumbledore always planed for Harry to die against Voldemort to destroy the piece of soul inside harry.
>>
>>
Voldemort was born with a special power
>>
>>69192276
How has nobody given the correct answer yet?

He was a product of a love potion. His mother was deluded enough to think that Thomas Riddle had fallen in love with her, so she stopped giving him love potions. He pretty much left immediately.

This is literally why Voldemort is incapable of understanding love.
>>
>>69200240
This. Remember that Neville's character exists pretty much to show what Harry would have been if Voldemort hadn't come after him over that prophecy.
>>
>>69200489
>and it can hardly be done if we're aware of the plan

There are SO many stories that show the main character seeming to be cornered, only to reveal at the last minute that it was all actually part of their master plan and then go into the flashback of the preparation. She didn't have it to make it luck to make it surprising, she just chose to.
>>
>>
>>69200720
>He was a product of a love potion.
>This is literally why Voldemort is incapable of understanding love.

Rowling said that it was just a metaphor, and had Voldemort's mother lived to raise him he would be different.

>>69200757
Harry wouldn't have been like Neville because the Lestranges wouldn't torture his parents. And they generally come from different backgrounds. Harry could have been ordinary if Voldemort hadn't chosen him, but he could have been extraordinary as well, especially with his talented family.
>>
>>69200826
>the Lestranges wouldn't torture his parents

What makes you so sure? James and Lily were members of the Order of the Pheonix as well. They, along with Neville's parents, had defied Voldemort 3 times making them all targets. Voldemort killed one set of parents but was defeated and the remaining death eaters targeted the other set. Why would it have been any different if he had gone for the Longbottoms instead of the Potters?
>>
>>69200998
>What makes you so sure?

The Lestranges only tortured Neville's parents because they were Aurors and the Lestranges thought they had information on where Voldemort is. Harry's parents weren't Aurors and so the Lestranges would not seek them.

But lets say that they do, and like canon Sirius hunts Pettigrew and goes to Azkaban blah blah blah. Harry would have still grown up either with the Dursleys or some adoptive magical family, and not with Neville's bitch of a grandmother, and he would be more or less the Harry we've met in PS, which was remarkably different from Neville.

There are some very elaborate fanfictions with this premise, though they usually suck.

>>
>>69201159
Okay, well obviously he wouldn't have had the exact same personality as Neville given different upbringings, but consider how similar they start out. Neville's grandmother is a bitch, the Dursleys are cunts. Both had prodigious, famous parents who are now effectively gone. They both get sorted into Gryffindor, neither is anything special in terms of magical ability or knowledge.

The big difference? Harry is the chosen one and The Boy Who Lived while Neville is some literally who. As a result of his status, Harry gets thrust into all these adventures and shenanigans while Neville is just kind of sitting in the background. You can't say that distinction wouldn't have had a big impact on how they turned out over the series. Then at the end you find out it easily could have been Neville instead of Harry. Yes, technically speaking that would have changed the circumstances of how they were raised and maybe they wouldn't have been so similar at the beginning, but I think it's clear enough that Neville is intended as a "here's what Harry could have been if he wasn't The Boy Who Lived".
>>
>>69201468
>Neville's grandmother is a bitch, the Dursleys are cunts.

Yes, and obviously both kids reacted to their mistreatment very differently. Neville became a shy, fat, insecure faggot, and Harry became a snarky semi-sociopath.

I get what you're trying to say, Neville is a foil for Harry, and obviously Harry probably wouldn't be the vanquisher of Voldemort in this case, but it doesn't mean that he'd be like Neville. If anything he'd probably even be more of a jock chad like his dad and godfather. tl;dr he'd be just another student at Hogwarts, we can't know exactly how ordinary or extraordinary.

Also, there's no guarantee that Neville would survive the things that Harry did. He wouldn't have an Invisibility Cloak, and he wouldn't have Harry's street smarts and quick instincts because he would have grown up with his proud relatives, not bullied, and wouldn't develop such a survival instinct early on as Harry did.
