Nothing DC or WB does will stop the MCU. The MCU needs to shoot itself in the foot in order to gradually kill itself.
Despite what you think about each of the individual MCU films, they still haven't done that. The movie they make doesn't even necessarily have to be terrible, it just has to fulfill two requirements:
>1. Contain some kind of inaccuracy to the source material that pisses off the comic book fans so bad that they'll never let it down.
>2. Have a boring, forgettable story and/or no exciting or unique visuals.
The MCU contains some films that fulfill one of the requirements, but we have yet to see one film that fulfills both. Iron Man 3 is a good example of one that fulfills the first requirement, but not the second. Thor 2 is a good example of one that fulfills the second requirement, but not the first.
When we finally get an MCU film that fulfills both of those requirements, then we'll start to truly see the downfall of the MCU.

It's a phenomenon by now. It's above and beyond failure. Even if Marvel did a couple of very bad movie now they'd be forgiven. Fans just had too many great moments with the series.

WB's animation studio is doing well. Lego Movie was a huge hit, and people seem hyped for Lego Batman. DC Comics has a solid history of well-received animated films too. It just seems like a logical step for them.

The animated team (and TV team) seem to get two things better than the film team.
1: If you treat the source material with respect, you make a better film. That doesn't mean you can't change things, try to make it a bit more grounded/realistic (Nolan-style), but there's a reason these stories that began 50+ years ago still have such a hold on people.
2. Heroes are actually fucking awesome, and people go to superhero movies to see that celebrated. When you use your medium to tell your audience that superheros are dumb and they're dumb for coming to a superhero movie, they tend not to like that. Shocking, I know.
