While it depends on the country, cigarettes or alcohol advertisment is usually either prohibited or strictly regulated, as not to encourage people to smoke or drink (which is the goal of ads).
Since it would be particularly ineffective to prohibit a cigarette brand to put ads on the sides of buses, while allowing them to put a Marlboro™ pack in half the shots of an AAA movie, smokes and alcohols have restrictions put on them in movies and other pieces of fiction, and their mere presence increases the age rating for the piece (which producers want to keep as low as possible)
