Season 2 is one of the GOAT seasons in any series imo.
Season 4 was pretty good too.
Season 5 had tons of potential and maintained its great atmosphere throughout but the plot was shit.

S4 had GOAT villains but a fairly shit story and wasn't exactly scary for being about a fucking freakshow, a lot of wasted potential.
S3 is irredeemable crap and AHS should be ashamed of themselves for submitting us to it.
