Having music on while you study actually creates links between the facts you absorb and the music you unconsciously register. To this day if I even hum certain pieces of music I'll remember shit I revised a decade ago. No one is claiming they study 100% AND attend to classical pieces 100%, no one claims their attention is on the music when they study to any degree.
