It's extremely overrated. Probably the worst of the classic 80s fantasy movies that gets recommended

Some of the characters make the story pretty childish, but :

-It has based Cruise
-Darkness is one of the most impressive creature I have ever seen on screen
-It is one of the most beautiful, best-looking movie ever made. Push the "cinema is a visual art" to the max.
