The entire musical is a war of the minds really between Burr and Hamilton: between someone who waits, biding his time to achieve power and someone who doesn't stop to question his own actions and pushes ahead destroying anything in his path, from friends to family to carve out his own legacy, respectively. I don't think "rapping is anachronistic" is a strike against a musical whose main goal is is to present early American content through modern American form and style, with heavy emphasis on the parallels between the two and how the ideologies, temperaments, and conflicts that defined the revolutionary era still drive us today.
