solaris
Is Solaris actually decent, beyond being a curiosity? I tried watching it a few months ago, but I stopped watching after 30 minutes because it was nothing but poorly acted talking. Nothing like 2001 at all.

I really liked it my third time through

>2001 has 30 minutes of men dressed as monkeys jabbering as its opening scenes
Please be bait.

>tfw these are the best films about space you can find but they are not their respective director's best works
Interstellar, it has actual substance as well as style and is more than an attempted art-house experiment looking to pull in the pseudo-intellectual MTV crowd.

>nolan defeners
i hope nolan someday realizes he is a hack director, even if he only realizes it on his death bed.

In all honestly interstellar is no less hacky that Solaris. Both have equal amounts of retarded.
I haven't seen 2001 so I can't comment on that.

This. I get 2001's reason for existing, there wasn't much in the same vein before it. But really, a lot of drawn-out, contrived shots, and for what? Two and a half hours for a "oh neato visuals" ending.
Solaris was much better.
2001. Solaris is great too but I just prefer Kubrick.

Solaris easily
