>>68985530
You're out of your mind if you think 16-year-olds like Tarkovsky - not even "intellectual" ones do. He's great, but too slow for most teenage "film fans", who basically just watch 90s Miramax films and gloat about how educated they are.
Wells
Kubrick
Fellini
Tarkovsky
Kurosawa
Bergman
Anonioni
Ozu
Lang
Truffet
Bresson
Renoir
Godard
De Sica
Mizoguchi

Pasolini
Tarr
Wenders
Mellville
Rivette

Scorsese
>>68985760
Considering that was the deepest movie i'd ever seen when I was 16, he's correct.
>>68985760
Am I wrong? That's the kind of shit self-proclaimed cinephiles are into, at least at that age.
>>68985530
Forgot about Lynch too
>>68985791

im probably older or the same age as you, if you think a 16 year old can fully appreciate eyes wide shut then idk what youre thinking
>>68985747
>Ozu
man, you'd be hard pressed to find a teenager who can sit through and enjoy an Ozu film that isn't Floating Weeds.
>>68985973
>dies
>survived the incident
Make up your fucking mind
>>68985973
>Teen dies
>survived the accident
>>68985926
So what? You posers didn't know what you were watching, that's like a 10 year old stumbling onto Ulysses or Pynchon, so fucking what, yeah you watched those movies (godard is a hack) but I bet you couldn't say anything interesting about them or even really understand the directors intention
They're nothing like the velvet underground and sonic youth you fucking pleb, and the fact that you can't tell the difference is revealing
The biggest of phonies
>>68985926
Maybe I'm just in with the wrong crowd but of the literally hundreds of teenagers who were at my school, maybe one or two had heard of Tarkovsky or Godard, and even then it would have been because they had been assigned to study them by a film studies teacher.
Andrei Rublev has, like, 20,000 votes at most on IMDB. That doesn't mean it's bad or even obscure (not even Tokyo Story has reached 25k votes on there) but it certainly means it isn't "trendy" - at least not anymore.
>>68986100
>godard is a hack
>>68986040
You don't know many 16 year olds, do you?
>>68986188
No, I'm not in high school.
Wow, /tv/ is truly out of touch with reality
>>68985495
Me on the other side of the phone
>>68985495
Oh look, it's another "my taste is superior to your taste" thread where both sides tip fedoras to the other side.
Never change /tv/
>>68986188
No, maybe you can introduce me to some of your classmates?
>>68985530
thats true but kubrick will also pop up in alot of older peoples favorite directors. his movies have alot of depth honestly.
>>68985495
>yfw OP got bullied because Gummo confused him too much
>>68986141
>>68986223
For some reason my post was deleted.
Anyways yeah hipster teenagers exist, and when I say hipster I don't mean quirky Wes Anderson fans or progressive liberals, I mean genuine contrarians. they're called avant teens. Basically rip off beatniks who have rateyourmusic taste. I used to be one.
>>68986321
Hello /mu/
>>68986100
>godard is a hack
Get fucked
>>68986223
Welcome to 4chan, where reality is as foreign as the bbc currently penetrating the average 4channer's oneitis/waifu
>>68986316
Not OP but Gummo is honestly one of my favorite movies
>>68986334
Hi.
>>68986321
Huh. I am unaware of the existence of these individuals - I certainly didn't run into any during my adolescence. Is it just an American thing?
>>68986100
I'm saying we treated them like the velvet underground. Are you autistic? Do you have trouble with reading comprehension?
>>68986223
>>68986188
Looks like we got some experts on what being 16 is like here.
>>68985495
Why is he holding a Wiimote up to his ear like a phone?
