Imo this movie ought to be much less of a direct adaptation and more of a prequel. There's plenty in BvS that fleshes out this Batman, but so much of it was comic book references that general audiences wouldn't have picked up on it.
This creates the opportunity for a real character exploration, showing us what led this Bruce Wayne to become this original version of Bats. Not to mention, it will add some meaning and payoff to BvS if done this way.

I'm not defending the "Snyder's" at all. Deborah's weakness as a producer is her lack of control or effective oversight. She's an enabler Yesman. Baffleck isn't a tryhard manchild that tries to shove every """"deep"""" idea he farts out into his movies. Baffleck knows how to make a well-structured propulsive narrative story. Baffleck has his own producing partners that will undoubtably also be there. Deborah Synder sitting on the conference calls isn't really going to negatively effect that.
