Can someone answer me why popular "romance" movies are so disgusting.
Here is a few examples of movies I turned off 1/4 or halfway through:
>Spectacular now: Nice girl falls in love with a literal chad abusive alcoholic that's just like her dad.
>Love, rosie: two best friends are going to end up together but the girl gets pregnant from a chad one night stand and she has the kid.
>What if: Zoe kazan cheats on her boyfriend with harry potter.
It really bothers me how some of the "happy endings" are so fucked up nowadays. There is never a clean, pure relationship where two people love each other. Instead we get 90% screentime of chad drama and cheating and the final scene where the chad protagonist runs to apologize to the girl and declare his love or the other one where the girl leaves her fiance at the altar.

Tried to marathon early GoT recently to catch up. She hated everyone. Even those you're supposed to at least partially like, she hated. Jon Snow breaking a promise and marrying for love over duty particularly annoyed her. The box sets are basically gathering dust now.

She's going to get her PhD in political science at one of the best colleges in the county, was my school's choice for the Rhoades scholarship (a school of 50,000 students), and her undergraduate thesis was 160 pages long and written under one of the most respected members of the field.
But the girl was a fucking idiot at almost anything else. She didnt understand the twist in the Usual Suspects and got pissy when I explained it and stormed off and refused to talk to me until the next morning. She literally didn't understand any movie above a Pixar level and when I say understand I mean it. Basic plot points were lost on her in something even so simple as a Bourne movie. She didn't understand anything that was happening in Children of Men until I literally paused halfway through and explained point by point what was going on.
This extended outwards, too. She only liked whodoneit crap books straight off the rack at the grocery store and pop country music. Her sense of humor is also mom tier and she sent me Facebook shit constantly.
It was a fucking confusing experience.

I learned that right around when I noticed her tendency to correct people on things she was wrong about. Like when she tried to tell a Norwegian girl that Moose only lived in America or when she told me Disney didn't own Pixar and it was independent.
She had a way of doing it, too, where she smiled and laughed and acted like you were a fucking child when in fact she was wrong every time.
She also bought into crazy sensationalist shit like once where she told me in a panic that ISIS had taken over an airport in Egypt and stolen like 40 planes and they were heading for targets all over the world at that moment. Which is fucking stupid even if it was true because the planes would be shot down instantly the moment they entered Israeli, European, Turkish, Saudi, or Russian airspace. And she's a fucking political scientist.
