Is this the greatest war film ever made?
>>68940034
Yes.
Unless you're one of those people who doesn't think it's a war film, in which case the best is Paths of Glory.
>>68940084
Paths of Glory isn't a war film either
>>68940034
Probably, along with Bitter Victory
>>68940034
Yes, Aguirre was a great movie.
>>68940034
I watched the redux last night and loved it
yup, but most of the obvious competition is overrated.

>>68940034

>>68940034
Yes, though it's arguably not a war movie, it's still one of the best movies ever made

If anything, Apocalypse Now is more of a war film than Paths Of Glory. Paths Of Glory has a war scene and takes place during the war, but I don't believe it qualifies it as a war film. Same thing goes for The Deer Hunter.
Why wouldn't it be a war movie? I mean, I guess you can argue wether a movie like this is pro or against war, but it's definetly ABOUT war.
>>68940034
Yes.
>>68940034
No, this is.
>>68940034
Absolutely.
>>68943887
absolute waste of what could have been the best war movie ever if the director wasn't such an autist that needs to stare at tree's before he spaz's out
>>68943747
It takes place during a war, but it's not really about the war.

>Not Kelly's Heroes
You're wrong, obviously.
Apocalypse Now is a pretty good film and all but I could never rewatch it.

>having to sit through the inanities at the farm
>>68940034
Its the greatest film ever made.
>Smelled like... victory.
>Someday this war's gonna end
>>68940034
It's definitely the front contender.
>>68940034
I recently watched it along with Paths of Glory, The Thin Red Line and Hearts of Darkness.
Apocalypse Now is still the best.
>Coppola gets Harrison Ford to play a character called "Colonel Lucas"
>character is an annoying limp-wristed paper pusher
Pure poetry

It's like Boogie Nights; it's structured around porn but it's not about porn.
>>68944310
That's such a great movie. And a real treat for cinema buffs. Anyone who's never seen it, you should go in blind, so you can get new "Holy shit! That guy's in this too?" every scene.

The dirty dozen is not the greatest but surely enjoyable
