What is the worst episode from Golden Age Simpsons (Seasons 2-8)?
>(Seasons 2-8)?

A great episode, but starts the downward smile of pushing an agenda and massively changing characters.
The one with the extremely violent rape scene that didn't even advance a plot, it was just five minutes of blood and penetration. wtf
>>68939715
Yea, the Lady Gaga episode sure was terrible

All singing all dancing, but that's s9, so "so it's come to this"
If we're talking no clipshows: probably my sister the sitter
>Lisa the Vegetarian
I think we're all forgetting that episode she turned down money from Burns despite helping him? I think that's when I really started to hate Lisa.
Phil Hartman dying coincides with the 'classic Simpsons' coming to an end.
While I think it was a myriad of issues all at once, Phil Hartman being gone really sucked a lot of life out of the Simpsons.
All of season 7 and 8 were definitely less joke-heavy than the previous series. IDK why they're counted as 'golden age' they just aren't shit yet.
>>68939741
my sister, my sitter is worse than gaga episode.
The Homer They Fall - Season 8
The references (Tyson and Don King especially) aren't subtle at all, they change Moe's character for plot convenience, and the ending was very uninspired. Worst of all, there's no real memorable moments/jokes in this episode. It's extremely forgettable, and very similar to something Al Jean would probably greenlight today.

>He didn't like Abe rooting for Tyson to kick the shit out of Homer or Marge complaining about not being able to see the fight

Now that I remember, Buffer introducing Homer and him walking out to "Why Can't We Be Friends" was pretty funny. But that episode still feels off. I pretty much forgot it existed until I saw it on FXX a few weeks ago.
>>68940341
Well what do you like about it? What do you consider a bad golden age episode?
I hate how it's impossible to criticize any golden age episode (outside of the obvious choices like clip show eps and Lisa eps) without being called "pleb" and other nonsense. It's like some people think old Simpsons was totally flawless, but let's be real, it wasn't.
>>68940430
Season 9 is acceptable, but there is a clear drop in quality. The characters start to feel like caricatures of themselves.
It's in the transitional period from classic to zombie. Seasons 9-11, never forget.
>>68940609
>What do you consider a bad golden age episode?
Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish from season 2
Its not 'bad' in the sense it's unwatchable but it feels lazy
>>68939484
Clip shows are cheating. If you go by Charlie Sweatpants' of Zombie Simpsons logic, Marge Be Not Proud is the only "bad" episode of golden age Simpsons because it plays so closely to covention.
I'd sooner pick an unfunny and forgettable episode like Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy
>>68940621
Yea, season 9 is where it all falls off. The Cartridge Family and Dumbbell Indemnity are the last two truly great Simpsons episodes imo.
>>68939458
>Seasons 2-
fuck off
Bart's Inner Child. What a shit episode. Completely forgettable
>>68941394
This. Bart's Inner Child is senseless.
>>68939458
>Season 2
>Golden Age
Ehhh desu the series didn't really kick off until Season 3. Season 4-5 were definitely the highlight of the show.
Also yeah Lisa the Vegetarian was the worst, but Lisa driven episodes in general sucked because she was the least liked character. This image right here represents her personality. Nagging self-righteous whiner.

>The first episode of Season 7 is the entity that represents the show's down spiral.

>>68941526
A lot of people with tastes trending towards the dramatic rather than comdeic think season 2 is the best - it's definitely the season with the most influence from James L. Brooks and it is most certainly excellent quality television. But I know what you're talking about, it doesn't have as much of the amazing unhinged cartoony humor as what came after.
>>68939894
Daily reminder
>>68941526
Seasons 1 & 2 had the highest Nielsen ratings of all of them so IDK what you mean by "didn't kick off". I'd agree 4 & 5 being the highlight though. I'd say the most memorable moments are in 3-6. 1, 2 and 7, 8 are like 'silver age'.
>>68939458
Any of the clip show episodes
Also
>not including season 1
pleb
>There are people who don't consider season 1 to be golden age
>>68944994
It's good but the show just hadn't hit its stride yet. I prefer it to anything after season 8, but just in terms of laughs-per-minute it falls short. The animation is still spectacular and there are some clever jokes, yet there's more than a couple that quite don't hit their mark, the voice actors were still adjusting to their characters, and not to mention it's a borderline family drama. That emotional element and the character establishment both of the main family and the background characters is essential to the later high points of The Simpsons, but I wouldn't place episodes like The Crepes of Wrath or The Call of the Simpsons on par with Homer's Triple Bypass or Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadasssss Song.

uh da fuq? the first clip show is fucking hilarious

'Round Springfield
although it seems like it shouldn't count because it wasn't the main staff. it was al jean and mike reiss and a couple of writers from the Critic
that's like shitting on those Adventure Time episodes with guest animators.
I always find rewatching S2 and even S3 hard. Not that they're not amazing but something is just kind of off. S4 is when the show becomes maximum comfy
I don't like Homer and Apu where they go to India. It's way too broad and not terribly funny.
>>68940668
Both of those episodes are good though
>>68941394
This was a bad one

The Canine Mutiny was pretty underwhelming episode.
Scenes From the Class Struggle in Springfield felt like it belonged on a soap opera.
>>68939484
Season 4 clip show was great
The older Simpsons have so much feel and substance they are so palpable and most of you 4chan faggots with your feel pepe memes are spawns of the old Simpsons. They actually addressed loneliness in adulthood, suicide, death of children, stereotypes, vainess and hipster culture. Even edgy cartoons nowdays are so fucking PC it hurts - rick and Morty and that faggot normal show.
