What if he never was in the car accident? Did it ruin his career?
>>
It did more than that. It ended his life.

Big Luke
>>
>>68885281
He actually died in the car accident, and another guy pretended to be him so SW could continue.
>>
>>68885390
This, the hint is in the name:

Skywalker, because now he walks with god.
>>
>>68885281
>What if he never was in the car accident?

He'd stay a 10/10 cutie pie.

However the crash may be why he's such a nice bro.

>>68887179
But why?
>>
>>68885281
The fact he isn't a very good actor ruined his career.
>>
>>68887501
He's proven himself as a great voice actor though.

He just lost his looks and was no ones choice for a lead actor anymore, that's how vain the industry really is
>>
>>68887597
True.
The guy is a goat voice actor. But his live action stuff just isn't very good.
>>
>>68887501
He did okay in the first Star Wars but he was obviously really uncomfortable trying to act serious in the second and third movie.

He's a decent voice actor too but the fact that he's a comic book nerd means that he said yes to way too many shitty roles but he probably wasn't up for much more anyway.
>>
>>68887718
You got it backwards m8, Hamill improved as the series progressed. He was awful in ANH.
>>
>>68887597
>that's how vain the industry really is

Eh, a lot of actors aren't even handsome. Just a random list:

>danny devito
>nicolas cage
>joe pesci
>kevin spacey
>sylvester stallone
>>
>>68888408
Some of those are really good actors though, so they make up for it. But if you're just an average actor and not very handsome, you wouldn't really have much going for you
>>
Being as he died in that accident and was replaced with an alien fake yes it did ruin his career
>>
>>68888452
But that only proves the industry is not that vain. Otherwise there would be only grade A bimbos and guys with chiseled abs and jaws in every movie.
>>
>>68888216
According to this tard daisy will also get better
>>
>>68888661
You don't have to be good looking to have a certain image, eg Steve Buscemi. He got a lot of roles based on looks too
>>
>>68888755
No, that's some bullshit you just came up with because you're dumb.
>>
>>68887597
>He's proven himself as a great voice actor though.
Nope he has zero range. All he can do is "raspy guy with a frog in his throat". But you probably think Conrony is a great VA too. Retard.
>>
>>68888408
You gotta factor in the era. The 80's were around the time basic yet manly looking dudes became the "in thing".
>>
>>68889044
>Nope he has zero range. All he can do is "raspy guy with a frog in his throat"

Wow, you're a retard.
>>
The problem with Mark Hamill was that Star Wars was a cultural phenomenon and his character was the center of that. He wasnt a really good actor, just and ok actor, so he can shake off the Luke character.
>>
>>68887501
Harrison Ford isn't a good actor either though.
>>

As bad as it is to say, the crash actually worked out for the movies. Before the crash he looked like a boy, it made him look like more of a man. For a coming of age story, it works in it's favour
>>
>>68889405
The key word is charisma. Kevin Spacey and many actors from >>68888408 aren't good looking but they're very charismatic so the audience can relate with them. Arguably, charisma is even more important than good looks.

Some people have it, some people don't. Harrison Ford was handsome and charismatic so he became into a huge star. Mark Hamill wasn't charismatic and the car crash happened
>>
I think it did work out to make him seem more battle hardened. I've also always heard that the reason for the Wampa attack at the beginning of ESB was to explain how different he looked but you still get a pretty clear look at his face before he gets fucked up, if I recall.

Are you kidding? He was incredibly charming and endearing.

The bottom line is he wasn't that great of an actor and pretty boys (who were already out of fashion by the '80s) don't transition well once they start aging.

his nose was flatter, wider and asymetrical and his jaw was weaker after the accident.

Him being Joker is enjoyable and all, but killing your vocal cords behind a mic for hours for an under-appreciated cartoon is nowhere near as fulfilling as starring in a major movie.
>>
>>68894512
Mark Hamill has been a comic book fan for his whole life. Playing a role as iconic to him as the Joker I'm sure is personally fulfilling for him. Maybe if we were talking about Harrison that would be true.
>>
>>68894503
Actually I think that Alec just doesn't show his emotion very well. Plus, he was one of the few who early on saw promise in Star Wars, the main reason he stayed on.

I think Mark did fairly well across a decades spanning career.
>>
>>68893150
I think he has the charisma, but the source is hard to place. Do you cast Mark Hamill as Hamlet? Do you put an actor with an American accent in an historical drama? What do you do with him?

Fischer went on to work for Woody Allen in the 80's, but Hamill got lost in the shuffle. Too old to play the kid, and still too young to transition to become a character actor. He looks like he'd do well in Californian movies, but would you put him in NYPD Blue?

I think the car accident is exaggerated. In July of 1977, Hamill began filming the teen romp Corvette Summer, where he plays a teenager trying to recover his stolen Corvette. So six-seven months after the accident, he was in good enough health to film a movie and he sure didn’t look too different.

Is it possible that the circumstances and consequences of Hamill’s accident have been mixed up with that of actor Bud Cort’s in 1979? I’ve read various sources that incorrectly stated that Hamill’s accident took place AFTER the release of Star Wars, as long afterwards as 1978, and Cort’s accident did indeed require the sort of reconstructive surgery and physical rehabilitation that was attributed to Hamill’s.

>Although Guinness disliked the fame that followed work he did not esteem,[20] Lucas and fellow cast members Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, and Carrie Fisher have spoken highly of his courtesy and professionalism, both on and off the set. Lucas credited him with inspiring cast and crew to work harder, saying that Guinness contributed significantly to achieving completion of the filming. Guinness was quoted as saying that the royalties he obtained from working on the films gave him "no complaints; let me leave it by saying I can live for the rest of my life in the reasonably modest way I am now used to, that I have no debts and I can afford to refuse work that doesn't appeal to me." In his autobiography, Blessings In Disguise, Guinness tells an imaginary interviewer "Blessed be Star Wars", regarding the income it provided.[22]

Fair enough imo
