So /tv/, what are your expectations? Will it be a boring reboot rehashing the original story or an absolutely insane new story?

I expect it to be Inland Empire x10. I don't think David would do anything he wasn't artistically comfortable with and there is evidence he was fighting showtime over that.
I have a question about the first series' cancellation.
Wikipedia says that declining ratings led to executives' push for revealing the central mystery of the show before the end of season 2, which coupled with other constraints led to the death of the series. However in the same page it is also claimed that the revelation and its follow-up by lackluster storylines was the thing that caused the decline in ratings in the first place, which led to the show's death.
What exactly happened?

The ratings went down a bit before the reveal, then they went down a lot after.

I think there was a core audience up until the reveal. The ratings declined originally because the show was a huge headline maker and the casual audience got bored real quick. I think the reveal killed it for a lot of the core audience.
Reminder that this is only six months away

I have no idea what to expect, if I'm being honest. I really want it to be good though
I don't know, but I'm hoping Michael Cera plays either a black lodge inhabitant or the new Bob scaring people with his pencil thin mustache.
Will Eddie Vedder be the ghost of Leo Johnson?
I think finally watching the show on a week to week basis after having the luxury of bingeing the original will be excruciating but incredibly exhilarating. And I hope it's able to recreate the same cultural excitement it did back then so I can get swept up in it.
