His books are utter shit anyway.

If you were paid 10 million dollars, would you deeply tongue George R. R. Martin's ass for 1 hour straight? Be honest.
>>
>>68834775
do I have to deduct taxes from it?

the ten million I mean not the ass
>>
>compares himself to Tolkien
fuck this asshole. I hope he never finished his series and his cuck fanbase have to live with the fact that their shitty story will only ever have a shitty show ending
>>
>>68834807
No, you get the full sum of 10 million.
>>
>>68834824
when did he last eat and can I clean or bleach his ass before I do the deed?

You havent read them, don't talk

He had mashed potatoes and turkey breast with broccoli and a strawberry cream parfait. You are allowed to clean his ass.

>>68834821
Meh. As a book fag and ex-super fan I just don't give a shit one way or the other. I loved this series. I was excited for the show. I've just had all my enthusiasm and love for the setting beaten out of me by the show's downward spiral into a quagmire of shit. The only thing worse than D&D's rape of the series is the insufferable fan base.
>>
>>68834907
then in that case yes I'd do it for ten mill

i think less of people who tell me that they've read the books

I just ordered the 5 book set today... F-fuck you, anon!
>>
>>68834907

Well obviously then but don't kid yourself, most people would do it without the nice stipulations
>>
>>68835006
I could never bring myself to READ low fantasy politics. The show is only interesting because of the incredible realization of the world onscreen. The content itself is totally uninteresting except in these bite sized chunks with sprinklings of ultra-violence.

I wouldn't mind a departure from the source material at all, frankly the fourth and fifth books needed it anyways. But the last season was just so tough to watch. It was honestly a travesty what happened to Stannis, basically being destroyed by like 20 guys in a night. They're trying to go for the whole "anything can happen and no ones safe" thing, but it should cut both ways and not lend that Ramsay kid super abilities that make no sense.
>>
>>68835100
The first three books were really good, but the last two were not even worth the struggle
>>
I blame the fifth season's quality on the shitty source material it was attempting to adapt.

Dany will win because she's based on Henry VII.

I'll stick to David Gerrold and Jack Vance for my paper entertainment.
>>
>>68836337
i didnt really like feast for crows on my first read through, but on my 2nd im enjoying it a ton surprisingly. The book dives into the characters a lot more and while there's not as much crazy action and major events going on its still really interesting seeing characters change or evolve, or continue to be their same shitty selves despite everything they do being terrible decisions (cough cersei). That being said, the show gives less and less of a shit about any of that and instead turns stuff like jaime's redemption into "LOL ADVENTURES OF BRONN AND JAIME". I'm all for deviating from the source bc the show has done that on occasion in the early seasons and it was still good shit, but season 5 yikes.
>>
>>68836271
Had a much different feel for the books. Absolutely loved the first book, hated ACOK, Enjoyed ASOS, AFFC is probably my favorite in the series, and ADWD is a chore to read except for the Davos chapters.
>>
>>68834855
I read Wild Cards which he turned into literal tranny porn and tanked the series
He wrote the consistently worst stories in the anthologies and they were frequently veering into alt.text.erotica level shit
>>
>>68836404
>I'll stick to David Gerrold and Jack Vance for my paper entertainment.

If you got any more patrician you'd be praetor
>>
>>68836630
>ADWD is a chore to read except for the Davos chapters.
I found Tyrion's chapter just sailing on that boat really comfy. Everything else was just dull, tho.
>>
The books turned to shit ever since the red wedding happened. Too many major characters died since, and there is nobody left that keeps it remotely interesting.
>>
>>68834648
Sunset found her squatting in the grass, groaning. Every stool was looser than the one before, and smelled fouler. By the time the moon came up she was shitting brown water. The more she drank, the more she shat, but the more she shat, the thirstier she grew, and her thirst sent her crawling to the stream to suck up more water.
>>
So besides dragons that don't do shit and swords made from magic steel, where's the actual fantasy in these books?
>>
Stop whining you fat faggot Ghazi fuck and finish the series before Sanderson kills you so he can finish it.
>>
>>68837130
There be giants, direwolves, tree gods, shadow vagina monsters, ice zombies, regular zombies, resurrection and that's about it.
>>
>people made at changes to source material when adapting from page to screen

When will these faggots die off? They are clearly so fucking retarded as to think they will be able to claim to be the first adaptation with no changes.
>>
Reminder that every fucking book fag said Dorne/AFFC/ADWD were fucking boring and shit until the show adapted them and all of a sudden classic literature was slaughtered

the quality of the show and storylines have dropped significantly the past season or two

the plot is still there but its superficial with nothing interesting going on besides what you see

>every fucking book fag said Dorne/AFFC/ADWD were fucking boring
No, just Jon and Tyrion fanboys. I actually liked AFFC. ADWD was fine, it just felt too short because he rejoined the perspectives and some people only got like 3 chapters so barely anything happened.
>>
>>68834855
They are "dare you enter my magical realm?" tier of fantasy pulp.

He lost his way after the third book, and he won't live to finish the series, but the books are a thousand times better than D&D's shitshow.
>>
>>68837268

dorne was shit in the books but it was leading somewhere

they've made dorne in the books like like an exciting literary masterpiece
>>
>>68834648
did he really say this?
>>
>>68834775
No. Maybe if it was only a few minutes, but an hour is a really long time to be tonguing someone's ass.
>>
>>68837375
>dorne was shit in the books
It was actually pretty interesting. People just cried because their favorite characters weren't in it and they didn't have the wherewithal to get invested in new ones.

If anything, I found the resolution to a lot of the Dornish stuff in book 5 disappointing, cause the setup in book 4 was rather exciting.

Proving my point
>>
>>68837130
>people who ask this somehow always forget the undead monsters in the North that were in the prologue of the very first book
Not to mention the warlocks, witches, pyromancers, and red priests reviving the dead.
>>
>>68837519
What point?
>>
>>68837453

na it was shit. it would've been alright in earlier books, but you introduce this slow moving plot with so many irrelevant points in the middle. the end goal is interesting but i could've done with the fat being cut from a lot of dorne.

im 100% sure the dorne tv line they just thought "fuck it" and they've cut it down to dorne joining daenerys because she wants to kill lannisters and shes a stronk womyn. thats it. which is so fucking dumb
>>
I've read the books. They're so boring that they've took years to read on the toilet. For the record the high points are great but they are few and far between in books that long.
>>
>>68834711
The show is so much worse though.

>>
OP, source?
>>
>>68837605
>you introduce this slow moving plot
Didn't seem slow to me. The stuff actually taking place in Dorne was resolved in the course of one book, unlike so many other plot lines in this series. Arianne's little scheme could be called a side story but it still managed to keep Myrcella relevant instead of giving her the Rickon treatment, give some closure to Oberyn's death, and even sets up a new plot line for Dany to interact with in book 5. I thought it nicely tied Dorne into the larger story and was rather succinct.

Book 5 delivered a lot less in comparison. Part of that is just too many perspectives to deal with. A lot of longstanding characters like Bran got hardly any focus, and meanwhile characters like Quentyn get several chapters only to go nowhere interesting. I feel like Book 5 could have omitted Quentyn's parts and just had him show up in Dany's court, since I think it was properly foreshadowed in book 4. Cause I don't think Quentyn needed his own PoV chapters given what happened.

Sauce pls?

The main character is Sam, he is GRRM telling his life's adventure. He is far older than we know.

The books nor the show cannot survive without Tyrion

>>
>>68834753
Jorah has greyscale so obviously he's fucked, but I feel like you're predicting Tyrion's death entirely based on that one trailer with him in the cave with the dragons.
>>
>>68836234
Yeah, they obviously misinterpreted what people liked. People liked the relative realism (obviously it's fantasy but not what I mean) in terms of main character safety. In the books, a character won't have a massive fuckup and get out of it through some bullshit - they either won't fuck up or they'll die.

D&D mistook this for "people like it when the bad guys win" and this is how Twenty Good Men did so much damage to Stannis' army, and why the Dorne plotline has been completely fucked.

I agree. A Feast for Crows is actually very good on a second read. There was no way it could compete with A Storm of Swords, which had TONS of world-changing and character-changing plot points, but the writing was still top-notch. A Storm of Swords spoiled the readers, turning them into over-opinionated brats (I was one of them).
