that isn't saying too much. How many people have heard of Fulci, and out of them how many like him? I posted that movie more to represent Fulci's filmography as a whole. He made some cool stuff but is pretty much completely overshadowed by Dario Argento.

Yeah right, he deserved to be overshadowed, because he was a rotten copycat. Lizard in a Womans Skin is literally him trying to copy Bird with the Crystal Plumage-era Argento.

I like Fulci but dude is honestly a scamster trying to ride on others coat tails. He brought nothing new to the table.

Don't Torture a Duckling - 8/10
New York Ripper - 9/10
Lizard In A Womans Skin- 8/10
Zombi 2 - 6/10
Murder Rock - dat ass/10
Manhattan Baby - 0/10 (wtf was he thinking)

I'm pretty sure the remastered Blueray is uncensored? I have seen multiple versions of it floating around though.

If I recall correctly it was one of those films that was made with some shit italian garbage film stock so when they HD'd it it looks like a billion amoebas breeding all over the screen.

Speaking on topic though, A really underrated kino is Death Laid an Egg, such a fucking weird giallo, creepy atmosphere, doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

I'm 24, not italian, just a fan of great films, which is the purpose of this board? I have a soft spot for 70s era giallo stuff. Most modern thriller/slasher stuff just gets the atmosphere and pacing all wrong, some things are just artifacts of their own place in time.

On the topic of under rated giallos though,

Torso- 10/10
Everything else by Sergio whatever his name is is shlockly crap, but this is a fucking underrated masterpiece, he was another guy who was doing explotiation just trying to ride that Argento money train, but dude pulls it off perfectly.

The twist is so good, and like Argento's films if you are looking really closely you can figure out the puzzle, you are given exactly as much information as the characters are. Great atmosphere, the italian cathedrals really make it creepy.

If thrillers are your thing what did you think of Beyond the Black Rainbow? It seemed to take a fair amount of inspiration from Suspiria. Nothing else made in the past ten years really comes to my mind that can compare to Argento.

>>

Kino is the word for movie theater in some other countries (e.g. Germany), but on /tv/, it means a step up from cinema in the classifications of movies in a tier system (kino - cinema - film - movie - flick).

Beyond the Black Rainbow- 6/10
Some places it shines through, but it just took a bunch of different influences and shit and threw it in a blender, and what came out was none of those things. If they weren't such try-hards it could have been a good movie. I personally like edgy pretentious movies, but this was bad even at doing that.
If they stopped trying to be so philosophical and psychedelic and post-modern for a second and just tried to engage the viewer in the story more instead of beating them over the head with "look how po-mo we are" it would have worked.

Bright Future- 9/10 very underrated.

Sincere kino-posting is a thing. I was trying to push the term to be used to describe films which reach a state of sublime aesthetics, regardless of their other merits.

>>68703181
>Bright Future
Thanks, another one to look for. I agree more or less on Beyond the Black Rainbow. A few parts look and sound really impressive, but the eclectic combination of influences kind of makes the whole thing a confused load of 'what' without its own strong direction.

I'd rather watch one of the movies that influenced it than rewatch it.

I feel like one of the best ways to begin a true understanding of another culture is by watching their kino-shit tier films. When it comes to good movies they are often trying to aim at something more universal, but with kino-shit you get this, it's actually really hard to describe, view of the culture.

Also I personally find that when I'm watching stupid chinese/japanese live-action-disney-esque shit it just is much more enjoyable for me than watching hannah montana even though content wise it's all the same. It's an odd experience. Anyone else feel this way?

Good Burger I just rewatched the other day, it was absolutely a master-piece. I wish that people put that much thought into sets now, it seems like it was really a late 80s and 90s phenomena to pack sets to the brim with little bits and pieces so that the frame is always full of little stuff. Pee-Wee's Playhouse ish.

It just makes films so much more enjoyable and it gives them a charm with every rewatch where I can see little background details I never thought about before. Good Burger does this perfectly.

Also, that fucking script. Ed's dialog is basically perfect, every line has me cracking up, the word-play never gets stale, and the jokes rely less on content and plot structure, and more on individual sentence form, so that on rewatches they stay fun to listen too!

What are some essential giallos? I've only really seen Suspiria
>>
>>68705070
Dario Argento's 'animal' trilogy is pretty cool and gives you a good idea of what proper giallo should be. 'The Bird With the Crystal Plumage,' 'Cat O'Nine Tails,' and 'Four Flies on Grey Velvet' are all perfectly solid giallos. 'Deep Red' is another Argento one that's great. It had a really strong influence on that manga/anime 'Monster' if that's your thing.

After seeing some of Argento's stuff I'd say you're initiated and can start looking beyond the essentials for some more niche stuff. I personally like Fulci, but like the other anon said, he was a pretty strong Argento knockoff a lot of the time.

Wrong. The reason some countries call theatres 'kino' is because the root Greek word for cinema is kinein. Soviet director Dziga Vertov described one of his movies as 'absolute kinography' in an interview with Pravda, which inspired some guy to use it in a pasta here. It took off from there.
It's also the reason why this guy's pic >>68705364 has the name in russian. That last movie (Man With a Movie Camera) is the one Vertov was talking about in the interview.

Rumor has it there was some FBI investigation naming Dan.
Also in an early interview with Dan when he was 20(?) it showed that he was good with computers but wanted to stay low key with that, whilst looking like the biggest pedo.

Theres many investigations against moguls but they are hard to follow as the investigations are very secretive.
For instance there is one on-going with Birdman (CEO of Cash Money Records) allegedly raping/sexual abusing Lil Wayne, hence Lil Wayne's split from the company. And Birdman has others suing him for sexual abuse.

This shit don't make the news since it can take years until the case is settled.
But if you want I can puzzle together some paper trail with Dan the man.
