So we all agree this is overall the best horror/slasher franchise of the pre 2000 era?
>>
>>68685564
1, 3, and new nightmare are the only good ones
>>
I'm more of a Friday the 13th fan desu. But Robert Englund is cool too.
>>
>>68685642
>no 2, 4, and 6
It's like you hate fun

>2004

Also lost a ton of it's luster after the first movie, which was just a rip off of another movie
>>
It's my second favorite. I like Halloween a little better because of the clever ways in which Michael stalks and kills his victims. Freddy is creepy when you're a kid, but Myers is a little scarier or at least more believable because he's basically an escaped mental patient on an unchecked killing spree. And he's determined to murder his own kin. My birthday is on Halloween though, so I could be a little biased in favor of it.
>>
>>68685705
>Saw
>a slasher
>>
>>68685694
>freddy coming into the real world, literally ruining the point of his character
>>
>>68685564
Yeah, even the reboots rocked it.

there was ONE bad movie IMHO that's 6, but only because it's not cannon.

it's fucking terrible on so many levels.
>>
>>68685760
And what did it rip off? If you say Cube you're an absolute fucking idiot. The correct answer is Abominable Dr Phibes, which is what Cube ripped off. Which is not to say every single slasher movie ever made is not just a shitty shameless rip-off, because they're all slashers. These trap scenarios are literally they're own sub-genre of horror, stemming from The Man They Could Not Hang and more famously The Abominable Dr Phibes.

Also Saw is a true patrician horror series.
>>
Watching Freddy vs Jason now, pretty enjoyable flick.
>>
>>68685945
Wait are you implying that the remake from 2011 or whatever was worse than 6?
>>
>>68685642
This. Even New Nightmare is debatable.
>>
>>68685978
They ripped off Alien.
>>
>>68685941
Nancy Pulls him into the real world in the first movie...
>>
>>68686013
NO NO NO, that there's only one bad freddy film, and it's 6. 2011 remake was pretty cool. I enjoyed the actor, but it wasn't the greatest. it's too shitty in the start.... but whatever, micheal bay showing his 'depth'

it was a good ending...
>>
>>68685978
Den apparently , Evidence seems pretty clear

Part 6 is essential comfy-core
>>
>>68686057
Yes she does. To remove him of his power and kill him. In part 2 he just comes out of pool or something and spooks a bunch of teenagers who could easily jump him.
>>
I'd argue Friday the 13th > Nightmare on Elm Street if only because Friday was better with internal consistency with what Jason was and how he operated, whereas Freddy was all over the place both in power and weakness.

Also, Friday handled their recasting far better than Nightmare did, with the various Tommy Jarvises representing Tommy at various points in his life, making the recasting be less of a hard pill to swallow
>>
>>68685564
??

Are you implying they got better post 2000?

Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween are the best ever slashers and I'm also going to count Alien as one.
>>
>>68686257
part 2 isn't even canon
>>
>>68685564
>i watched it at 4yo
>it traumatized me
now i have homicidal tendencies
i wonder if there is a generation of kids who got spooked hard by it
>>
>>68686108
Interesting article, never heard of this movie before. But then I see one post on the IMDB boards saying
>But Christ...anyone who likens this to the Saw movies is derranged. I see some similarities but the plot is really completely different.
I'm reserving my judgement until I've actually seen Den. And then contrary to the director's belief his film was "well received" it obviously was not if you see the posts on the IMDB board. Will torrent this and seed it back with the force of a thousand suns.
>>
>>68685564
It's the best film franchise ever, the end. Out of eight movies, only part II and the remake are less than good.

Freddy is also the best movie villian ever
>>
Freddy vs Jason was shit
>>
Which is the Freddy movie where he swallowed a girl whole? That started my vore fetish.
>>
>No Freddy vs, Jason vs. Ash live action kino
>only a comic

Except he maintains a majority of his power seemingly and kills one in a lovely fashion

It was decent enough. In the upper echelon of Friday the 13th films. I consider Part IV to the median. If a Friday movie is worse than part IV, it's shit. If it's better, it's good enough.
>>
>>68686057
Nope. Even that was a dream. Hence her mom being pulled through the window/door and the Freddy car pulling away with the kids stuck inside. It was all a nightmare.

>>68687352
1 is best desu.
>>
>>68685705
>first film came out in 2004
>it's torture porn franchise, not a slasher franchise
And even if you ignore all of that the Saw franchise is nowhere near as good as the A Nightmare on Elm Street Franchise. Saw 1 is a 7/10 and the rest of the series ranges from mediocre to shit, A Nightmare on Elm Street 1 is a 10/10 and there are other good films in the series.

The reboot isn't scary at all. When i watched the original as a kid, i didn't sleep well for like a month.
I watched the reboot with my little sis and she didn't get scared.

NoES first movie is the only good one for me. First movie was goat and every movie after that turned into more of a joke I don't understand it.

Ft13 at least stays somewhat consistent with what it is before falling off the rails at the end.

Only seen Halloween 1 and the remake and TCM 1. Don't have it in me to see those tarnished with sequels because they're such perfect horror.

Does Alien count? Resurrection is dumb but fun and the other three are great great and good.
>>
>>68685694

>Part 2

You mean the one that's 3% Freddy and 97% literal homosexual faggotry? Naaaaaah.
>>
>>68690264

Alien and Aliens are masterpieces. I like Alien 3, but it has the distinct misfortune of trying to replicate two previous lightning strikes.

Resurrection... Well, Winona is still queen of the qt, and Ron Perlman is clearly having a fun time, but the movie itself is mostly poo.
>>
>>68687311
They regretted ending the movie that way. Originally they wanted a happy ending but execs wanted it open for a sequel.
>>
>>68689712
Random Fun Fact, they used the metal claws for that scene, and robert had to hit a 2x4 that was under his robes
>>
I love the first one and like the rest of them. Except for the remake...But that doesn't count.
>>
>>68690547
Bob Shay has gone on record saying it was more to give the audience an ending with a bang, paraphrasing but whatever.
>>
>>68685941

This happens in the first movie.
>>
>>68685564
It's the best there is, the best there was, and the best that ever will be
