Hey /tv/ I never seen a thread about this show and I'm wondering if I should ser it. What's wrong with it? Is it worth it?
>>
It's pointless. Some good acting but otherwise it's just overlong music performances and tits.
>>
I'd say check it out. There are reasons I don't like it and there are many reasons I really like it, it seems to depend on the episode and the characters involved in any given storyline.

Sorry, everybody is stuck in the GoT sticky, waiting for the page to load...

Here's a pic of Juno Temple to tide you over;

I watched all of it and would not recommend it.

>It's a richie goes off the wagon again episode

>otherwise it's just overlong music performances

which weren't even very good. cheesy as hell. i expected much more from hbo and scorsese. definitely won't be tuning in for season 2.

Meh start, gets better around the middle of the season. Elvis episode was good.
>>

Honestly, the more I think about it the more I dislike it. It had everything going for it and still dropped the ball as badly as it did.

It's great. Don't listen to the plebs

THIS
This is why I'm doubting it. I'm worry it's just going to be three things:
1. Main character fucking it up because of coke.
2. Look we just mentioned Led Zeppelin (insert other famous band name)
3. Tits (HBO just showing tits because they can)
>>
No good. Whatever passes for the producers' memories of "cool" back then just isn't coming through. Masculinity through the lens of jewish/liberal hindsight.

Besides, it's a bunch of screaming stereotypes.

>2. Look we just mentioned Led Zeppelin (insert other famous band name)
This is the biggest problem with the show no doubt

The thing I hate the most though is how they're introducing the discovery of punk and disco as main plot points. Like this fucking hipster cunt blonde chick really "discovered" punk music or how the demoted accounts man in the mail room "discovered" disco music

wow what a coincidence that both of these influential music genres were discovered by two employees at the same record company at the same fucking time

Ray Romano is actually very good though, and so is Bobby Cannavale. It's a shame the acting is wasted on the story most of the time

This. A lot of what goes on in the show is basically wrong and sort of strange, even if you account for changing things for the narrative.

In general, I thought the pilot was promising and lost interest after about the third episode. I'm thinking of catching up, though, of out hope that the show got better.
>>
it's basically GoT in the music industry of the 70's, minus dragons and midgets
>>
>>68678343
That's the kind of the that I hate, the Forrest Gump effect.
I'm starting to have my doubts.
>>
the 70's are overused, maybe they should do a series about 80's hair metal scene
or the 90's independent scene with heroin and coke and shit
>>
The pilot was legitimately the worst big-budget thing I've ever seen on TV. Music snuff porn. I gave up after the pilot. Fuck Terence Winter and the overrated hack Cannavale.

>90's independent scene with heroin and coke and shit
That would be awesome. Heroin chic stylee
>>
>>68680925
people dying left and right from od's, hunting for the next nirvana, or the next big independent band like pavement
>>
Nobody gives a shit about the 70s. Not even the people who lived it. Most of them just want to forget it.

Wasted potential to be frank. It's well filmed and has some good actors, a decent setting but the first season didn't even justify itself by the last episode. A lot of points that should've been addressed were still in the air. Some seemingly important players were merely introduced and the protagonist was already getting repetitive on the first half of the season.
