The DCEU a shit. The era of good DC movies are over, and the only good DC movies were Batman movies done by worthy directors.

It's by design that all of Marvel's movies have the same bland, TV cinematography. Feige's main goal is to build a cohesive universe, and part of that is by having all the films be visually similar.

That said, the Marvel films succeed entirely at being what they intend to be, even if what they intend to be is fundamentally empty spectacle, and I can respect that far more that DC's ambitious failures.

I'll bite. A large "fresh" percentage on rottentomatoes does not equal a "good" film. It's more likely that the person reviewing it said it was generally okay. An average score of 6 out of 10 could result in a high "fresh" rating. So more accurately, Marvel can consistently make movies that range from okay to good.

I will saw Marvel took their time before they made the avengers. Five movies of backstory for Iron Man, Hulk, Captaon America, and Thor.

DC made one super man movie and two batman movies and then put them together. That's like making the two iron man movies and one captain America and then making civil war with the audience not giving a shit about the new characters and barely caring about the main ones.

Marvel isn't churning out any masterpieces, but their better films are very solid popcorn movies, and I'm not pretentious enough to pretend I don't enjoy that just because they aren't especially technically proficient. I, personally, can't respect DC/Snyder's brand of incoherent, tone-deaf 'superheroes for adults' just because it looks pretty and has lofty ambitions. You don't get points just for trying.

If we include the other movies, DC is finished.

Marvel has properties produced by Fox and Sony. And that includes Spiderman 2 and Days of Future Past. And Deadpool.

All that DC has is Batman. Burton Man, and Nolan Batman. Arguably Watchmen but people are divided about it.

Hell, if we include WORST movies - DC has Catwoman, Steel and Green Lantern. Anything Marvel has in their worst category was either direct to video, or not as bad as Batman & Robin

Am I the only one that laughs at what happened with BvS as a whole?
I mean, BvS was supposed to solidify DCEU's status as a franchise and it tried every single trick they knew.
I mean, some shots in BvS are literal comic-book pages put in live action, which are practically begging to be screenshot and put in forums and such, you know, for the ''IT'S LIKE A COMIC BOOK''.
But no one cared when it came out, the most famous image related to BvS turned out to be this.
Out of everything, the shot that has become famous, is the sad expression of one of the actors.
It's fucking hilarious.

>>
>>68660646
I'll say its debatable.

I'm one of those guys who says BvS is utter shit and I'll keep on attacking that movie, but Watchmen? No. Watchmen to me, was daring. Snyder actually tried to adapt what was considered an unfilmable source material, and out it to film. Its like what Jackson with with Lord of the Rings.

Hell, Watchmen was not only Snyder's effort. David Hayter, aka Solid Snake, wrote one of the earlier drafts of the script (I imagine it was his take on a final confrontation between Nite Owl and Veidt, which survived into Snyder's film, and made that movie even better) Watchmen is a movie I'd defend, because it was meant to be different, and it pulled it off.

>>
>>68660843

>>
>>68660707
>still there are daily threads about it that could reach cap limit
That's a bit generous, but even if that were true, it only generates discussion because it's divisive, just like Man of Steel and BvS. That doesn't equate to good, or memorable. Watchmen is almost a good movie, but that's only because even the most pedestrian reading of Watchmen is still an okay one.

>>
>>68660796
>(I imagine it was his take on a final confrontation between Nite Owl and Veidt, which survived into Snyder's film, and made that movie even better)
I couldn't possibly disagree with you more, I actually think that change is one of the most egregious in the whole film. Snyder's take on Moore's morally grey work is incredibly black-and-white, and nothing is more emblematic of that than that scene.

Watchmen is okay. It's mostly well cast, (esp. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Billy Crudup, but not Malin Akerman or Matthew Goode) mostly visually fantastic and, like I said above, even a superficial reading of Watchmen is an okay one. But it's hard to get around the fact that the film misses the point of the source material, and I'm not exaggerating when I say nearly every change that's made is a bad one.

gee i hope not, good thing marvel appreciates the perfection of digital filmmaking

Yeah but the fight scenes in Batman Begins are shit. What's the point of a superhero movie if the superhero doesnt beat up bad guys?

I have a question for DC fans. On a scale of 1 to 10, how mad are you that Civil War is getting universal claim and BvS was panned by the critics?
>>
>>68663852

If I got mad about that kind of thing I'd never stop being mad.

it misses the point of the original comic, Snyder made a movie about Superheroes and he butchered the ending with something that doesnt make sense (Dr M is an American agent who nuked the World, also Dr M can turn Planet Earth to chocolate if he really wanted to destroy it uniting against him is dumb as fuck while the skid was a unknow alien threat that people knew it could die)
>>

The film grain on this poster makes me respect it more.

DO NOT EVER TALK NEGATIVE ABOUT FILM!!
>>

>>Dr M can turn Planet Earth to chocolate if he really wanted to destroy it uniting against him is dumb as fuck

Except he only did it once. And to most people on Earth, his last citing was when he completely vapourized a studio full of people.

Thats the beauty of the movie - in the book, Dr. M simply teleported all the people in the studio outside. In the movie, you have no diea what became of them - whether they died, or were teleported into oblivion.

Even if the world powers could do nothing against Dr. M, the fact that he was missing, and did a one-off attack, means that there is something more important than a stupid petty nuclear arms race. Of coruse they can't do anything agaisnt him. But he hasn't done anything yet. And by that logic, it buys the world, as they see it, enough time to figure out a way to thwart Dr. M, should he ever attack again.

Thats the beauty of movie Veidt's plan, and even the Doc went with it - his choice to accept the blame, be a scapegoat, and go elsewhere is a kind of God sacrifice. It was done far better, her, than it was in BvS.

The squid could only work if you included the missing comic book writer and artist. Something I think, Snyder knew would be too difficult to add in

I never opened a comic book in my life. I went to see capeshit in the cinema.

Since this is /tv/ and not /co/, Ill talk about the films, not the material.

MoS and BvS are good films. Not great, nothing special compared to serious kino, but decent in their own right. Equivalent to Watchmen, or Sin City.

Avengers was atrocious. Iron-Man should be called Robert Downey Jr-the film. Ant-man was shit. Captain America was shit. The Winter soldier was decent, but essentially shit. Ultron was a bad joke and Guardians of the Galaxy was enjoyable, but nothing more than a pop culture quip fest in space.

Nice memes tho.

That's not the plan. They unite in fear of Manhattan, because they think if they start trying to kill each other again Manhattan will kill them all.

You didnt understand an overrated graphic novel and yet you shit on the best capeshit there is.

Well there's your problem. Go read one. The Sentry is pretty good?

Oh, you hate capeshit? I recommend Maus and I kill Giants

>>Since this is /tv/ and not /co/, Ill talk about the films, not the material.

Fair enough

>>MoS is good

Arguable. I'd say its about as good as Thor.

>>BvS is good

NOPE.

>>Equivalent to Watchmen, or Sin City.

Shows how much about capeshit you know

>>All marvel movies are shit

Not meme-ing. For real here. Your taste in movies is shit if you're hating on a comic book movie simply because ( a) its Marvel or ( b) it doesn't take risk because its Marvel. Nothing in BvS is comparable to Watchmen. And I liked Watchmen. I can make an argument for MoS being similar to Thor in some regards.

But BvS is fucking atrocious. BvS is the equivalent of WB making a Batman & Robin picture in the hopes that it would take on Marvel's Avengers. And you may not like the Avengers, but every Tom, Dick, Harry, their girlfriends, their dogs, and the clown, enjoyed and loved the Avengers since it was the first attempt to bridge 4 seperate comic book stand-alone movies into one narrative continuation.

tl;dr - You are trying to hard to be contrarian

You wrote alot, so I will give you the courtesy of responding, even though I shouldnt.

The funny thing is that everyone I know, who actually is a geek and reads comics, especially Batman told me they loved BvS, all the people (girls) who only like Marvel disliked it.

Being a contrarian means going against popular opinion, but since popular opinion is inherently flawed, due to entertainment/art being entirely subjective, Ill say this:

>memes
>memes
>ad hominem
>more memes
>ad hominem
>more memes
>buzz words

There is nothing sadder than someone who thinks he knows what hes talking about, only to make himself look like a total autist.

the world would never unite to fight God is simple as that, just imagine that the literall God from the bible appears and start nuking the world, they would never unite to fight it they would try to reason with it at most but he already made up his mind so it would only bring a small era of apocalyptic survival until God finally wipe us out

The whole World knows about Manhattans powers because USA made sure to show them with tv broadcast and shots from the Vietnam war (that ended in 2 days) where an invinsible god was completely butchering people

movie ending doesnt work and like I said Snyder wanted to make a movie with Superheroes in it completely missing the point of the comic
>>
You know what's sad?
The Flash is shot better than Man of Steel. At least it has color.

Not at all the same thing and you are basing your views entirely on your own experience.

Dr M never said to humans they should stop fighting or else he would kill them why would they understand his attack like that?

what if wars keep happening but Dr M never appears to nuke us again? (Veidt would not nuke the world again)

dumb ending for dumb people

They're not the same thing. The people know for a fact that Manhattan exists, have witnessed first hand his power and his willingness to absolutely fuck them up. Same concept, very different execution.

Not at all the same thing, because one is a scientific "what-if" the other is myth and legend a la "thor".

Totally different.

One was a man, the other made man.

>>the movie that literally has a battle against, you guessed it, a faceless robot in a cardboard smalltown in the middle of the desert as its climax

No bruh. Thor's climatic battle was in Asgard. Hell, it was on the Rainbow bridge. In the middle of Deep space. And Loki was dealing destruction towards Jotunheim. The fight with the Destroyer was teased in the trailers, but the real fight was in Asgard.

Besides that - when I made the comparison, it was in terms of concept, and narrative flow. Both focused on alien godlike beings who were sent to Earth, faced a foe that was there equal, came to love an Earthling woman, and have developed a strong attachment to the planet they have chosen to save.

It is a superficial similarity, but, it doesn't have to be too similar to be compared. And I think both films offer different ideas on the same concept of an alien God becoming a hero for Earth.
