We had high fantasy for DECADES.
From the fucking 1950's with the Steve Reeves Hercules flicks, all the way through the 90's and 00's with things like Xena and Hercules, EVERY fantasy-show or movie was both High Fantasy and light-toned, non-edgy, non-relaistic, non-grimdark campyness.
It literally was not until the 10's that Darker Fantasy went mainstream with Game of Thrones.
