>Plebs

>PLEBS follows three desperate young men from the suburbs as they try to get laid, hold down jobs and climb the social ladder in the big city - a city that happens to be Ancient Rome.
>>
>underrated

it won lots of emmys
>>
>Halt and Catch Fire

>Set in the early 1980s, this series dramatizes the personal computing boom through the eyes of a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time. Their personal and professional partnership will be challenged by greed and ego while charting the changing culture in Texas' Silicon Prairie.
>>
>>68625293
Don't mind him, the script he was handed says to use 'underrated' or else he don't get paid.
>>
>>68625217
>Veep underrated
what? how is a show that gets nominated for dozens of awards, wins a bunch of them, has great ratings, and is critically lauded criminally underrated? da fuck you even talking about? agree with the second bit, though.

man, i honestly could not get through the pilot. it was so fucking bad and cliched. i hope one day to go back and watch the series and just skip the first episode.
>>
>>68625581
Why? The pilot was fine.
>>
the first two seasons were really good, not sure what happened after that but it kinda sucks now
>>
>>68625217

don't listen to OP. these are truly underrated shows:

Billy and Billie
The Girlfriend Experience
The Affair
High Maintenance
>>
>>68625800
>The Girlfriend Experience

what is it about?
>>
>>68625636
i found the characters bland, the writing dull, and the acting serviceable but nothing to keep me watching. maybe i overreacted or it was a bad day when i saw it. or maybe the show just wasn't for me. i'll go back to it one day and see if my initial opinion was justified or not since i don't really have anything against the subject matter.
>>
>>68625909
Bitches and whores.
>>
>>68625973
fair enough
>>
>>68625925
The writing isn't dull at all and the characters are well-developed.
>>
>>68625909
a female law student's intro into the world of high end escorts. the show's very well done. i really like the subdued approach to the subject matter.
>>
Veep is comfy as heck
>>
Does Iannucci write the scripts or is he just the "creator"?
>>
>>68626078
not in the pilot, mate. or not from what i remember. i found it rather obvious. oh this one's going to say this, that one's going to sleep with this one, etc. if a show cannot surprise or entertain me, i give it a pass.
>>
>>68625217
I suggest that you look up the definition of underrated

>>68625289
Didn't see much of this when it was on but it looked like an absolutely awful vehicle for that bloke from friday night dinner. was i wrong?

Veep is shit
>>
>>68625217
>Criminally Underrated

by whom? The critics have their tongues out of it constantly, it's winning fuckton of awards, every intelligent viewer acknowledges that it's awesomely written and acted. Just because it doesn't have five threads for it open on /tv/ and it doesn't gather 10 million people like The Walking Pleb does, doesn't mean it's underrated.

your instincts were correct don't listen to that faggot, the show was bland aimless and cliched, the drama was laughably corny in places.

Season 2 was a million times worse, giraffefu and ginger wife form a company and invent every major piece of computer technology from 1984 to 1996 in their living room in the space of a few months because women can computers too guys. oh and lee pace has a nice visit from an aids ridden black guy he used to date, really engaging stuff.

Silicon Valley > Veep > GoT
>>
>>68626542
There's a difference between having a show with "smart" writing and having a show with pompous writers.
>>
>>68626493
eh, comedy's like that. some people get the jokes, some don't. i don't get Silicon Valley. i find it juvenile and not that funny. Veep i find to be sharply written and hilarious. to each their own.
>>
>>68625549
>But no one watches it here.

because /tv/ is full of contrarians that hate popular shit

the people that discuss got and walking dead are tourists that aren't actually part of this boards real culture
>>
>>68626607
it's not pompous at all. House of Cards is pompous political fictional writing, if any.
>>
>>68626569
I can't tell if you're joking or not but I knew a bunch of people who watched that show when it was on the air
>>
>>68626595
I'd mostly agree. I would say Silicon Valley=Veep>>>GoT
>>
>>68626612
I thought S1 of Silicon was juvenile, but in S2 they totally elevated their humor and concepts. Really psyched for S3.
>>
>>68626650
Veep does absolutely nothing to take advantage of its political setting. They could be taking that aspect at least slightly seriously like The Thick of It but no, it's Parks and Rec in the white house. So wacky and zany

Pompous and pretentious. It would really justify its ridiculous plots if it had an ounce of self awareness or humour regarding its shitty stories.

Pic related was far better
>>
>>68626813
>a show that, for once, doesn't try to convert actual political setting all the way up to reaching syndicate amount of seasons and episodes

dunno, but I quite like that. Veep keeps a certain amount of levity, whereas other show try to hard.
>>
>>68626688
yeah? i stopped watching after season 1 and only continued watching because of my ex. maybe i'll check out season 2 some time.

>>68626813
Veep is a whacky and zany farce. sure it could be better or more to your specific liking, but couldn't every show? it really is one of the only shows that makes me laugh currently airing.

i dig House of Cards (American Edition). it's Shakespearean, ostentatious, and wicked fun. a bit more humor would do it some good, but the ridiculousness of its plots is by no means a deterrent. Homeland has similar plot elements and i find that show to be as dull as a butter knife. Spacey's hammy overacting and Wright's sedate ice queen antics wins me over in the end.

c-can I have her number? I couldn't get my ex into any movie, TV series or music I liked and then she just fucking left me. much feels.
>>
>>68627185
That is true. At least House of Cards was watchable (and even entertaining) post-season 1. All those same criticisms could also be directed at House of Cards (Pomme edition), although the English Frank is a far more fascinating character in my opinion, especially if you see the series finale. Homeland has become a punchline about how far a promising show can fall.
>>
>>68627096
no. The Americans has always been highly regarded since it first aired. here's a list of all the awards it has won and the plenty of times it has been nominated season after season.

good show. sucks that it never found an audience, but that final episode was kind of a letdown. then again, a show about a think tank is a bit of a stretch.

Is this coming back?

It's not the best show on by any means, but it's solid.

Also the set-dressing is more convincing than Mad Men.
>>
>>68627577
Thankfully yes.
>>
>>68627371
I so wanted to like this show. But it went ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOWHERE.

This show burned so slow the fire literally went out half way through the pilot and it was just vague puffs of smoke from there.
>>
>>68627435
Rectify is the only one that qualified as underrated simply because no one watches it. the other three have solid ratings, viewership, and two are critically acclaimed. good shows, though. well, maybe not Silicon, but that's more preferential than anything.
>>
>>68627731

>Rectify is ending this year and nobody cares

Why don't people deserve Rectify? It's truly a magnificent series, really fucking solid script an directing.

>Daniel's last conversation with Limbo Kerwin
I won't admit, there's been a few times I've teared up watching this and this is one of them, latest being is when Daniel is at the beach in the third season

This is a show for women.
>>
>>68627837
two things the show has against it is its pacing and the network it airs. American audiences take umbrage to slow paced shows. there are exceptions but rarely is it the case that these type of shows rake in an audience. the Sundance network is also not widely distributed on basic cable or satellite feeds, it's more of a premium network. why the show does not receive a fair share of awards is beyond me. it delivers character and narrative-wise season after season. my fav episode is when Daniel parties it up with the antiques guy.
