I'm saying that the two women were probably attracted to eachother on some level anyway, symbiote or not, and then they had this particular experience in common, and some of those traits that fit together between them as a couple before fit together again in their new joined forms. I don't know, maybe I'm over thinking it, just seems like it would be odd having sexuality so easily connoted with what sex you are with the symbiont and those memories would be prominent, one would think, in the sub-conscious during times of romanticism.
