How long until Marvel releases their first rotten film, either by being shit or due to capeshit fatigue?
Pic out of date, upcoming Marvel slate:
> Captain America: Civil War
> Doctor Strange
> Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
> Spider-Man: Homecoming
> Thor: Ragnarok
> Black Panther
> The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1
> Ant-Man and the Wasp
> Captain Marvel
> The Avengers: Infinity War Part 2
> Inhumans
If Age of Shit and Thor 2 didn't get rotten scores, then they probably never will. Disney have them all in their pockets.

Thor 1 and 2 should've been rotten.
What's a captain Marvel?
>>68272949
>first rotten film
They've been doing it for years, though I can see the general masses getting bored and wanting something else with Capeshit falling out of favour after Infinity War 2 comes out, I can see it being an incredibly disappointing film, Infinity War 1 will more than likely be one of the highest grossing films of all time, especially if it has a cliffhanger ending. Something new will come along and burst the Capeshit bubble, it's why investors right now are circling possible new franchises in the form of video games with the likes of World of Warcraft, Assassins Creed and for Anime and Manga with Ghost in the Shell and Death Note. Those are the potential replacements. I do not see the MCU doing well after they ditch the current Avengers team and focus on a new one post-Infinity War, the current line up is really recognizable and marketable but to the normalfag crowd the new comers are just a bunch of literal who's and of course they have Spider-Man there with them to get some easy money since he's a household name.
Also as a fan of Inhumans I really don't see them transitioning to the big screen all that well but I suppose based Blackbolt deserves his recognition from the uneducated masses one day.

Disney is too big too fail, and they have the best marketing department. So they are never releasing a rotten film, but eventually people will get bored of them anyway.

Marketing and paying off reviewers are two different things.
The la film critic association has sone serious weight behind it, if any studio was found giving out bribes they would be be barred from all critic based award shows and bigger shows would likely follow.
A movie studio would rather have a shitty movie get a shitty score then risk the whole studio.
This would be on the level of VW emmisions scandal.
thor movies are literally 2/10

>>68272988
I thought AOU was pretty good and I really liked Thor2 (The Loki Thor Family dynamic is one of my favorite parts of the MCU).

Thor 2 was pretty good
IM2 and AOU have already shown that Marvel can release a crappy movie as long as they follow it up with something decent.
Where a studio runs into trouble is when they fuck up their second chance, like Fox with ASM2 and WB with BvS.
>>68274102
Meant Sony, not Fox.

Thor 2 has a lot of entertaining moments but a clusterfuck mess of a plot, its still enjoyable though. It didn't get positive reviews, it got passable reviews that overall came to this consensus. If you actually cared about movies or individual thought and not a fucking number you would know this, its almost the same case of AoU.
>>68274063
this, the movies are bland, boring, predictable, uninspired and have no sense of cinematography, coherent storytelling, tone, theme or comedy. The dialogue is abysmal and the characters are two-dimensional.
>>68274151

what turns me off about marvel is that they literally pump out movies like a product, all they have to do is copy/paste some characters in and boom: instant flick.
and the fact that they have all these future flicks lined up all the way into the 2020's with release dates
>>68274326
I actually hate Loki in this movie because they try to force him to be stupidly snarky. I like the fights though.

Now hollup!
Hype + marvel formula + shiny effects + quips + at least decent acting(because let's be honest, characters are simple as hell) +a lot of action
You can say that from an artistic point of view they were bad movies. But as far as flicks/blockbusters go these were still fucking levels over all of the YA shit, or Ghost Rider, or Green Lantern, etc. You're just being salty mate.
>>68274234
>severe minority
yea anyone who isn't underage or doesn't have shit taste could tell you AoU and Thor 2 are awful, boring poorly contructed flicks
The real question is what happens when phase 3 is over?
What big villain could they set up once Thanos is defeated, Kang? They are doing Inhumans and he's master of time and shit. I could see him being the next one.
>>68274359
I do like the bit where he turns into Cap for a second, but Loki actually caring about their mother is probably the only really good memorable thing about the movie.
>>68272949
Captain Marvel if they're actually going through with that. I just don't see how they could make it work and it's two fucking years from now.
>>68274346

>Captain America The Winter Soldier
>Guardians of the Galaxy
>Avengers Age of Ultron
>Ant-Man

James Gunn said they cant use Kang because of legal rights. In comics he is Reed Richard's (Mr Fantastic's) brother or dad or some shit so that might explain in. Although he is mostly an Avengers villain so I dont see how they can then use Scarlet Witch.

>>68272949
Avengers 2 robot boogaloo should have been the one but they bribed internet critics into giving it fresh rated reviews.
>>68274562
My point is the same logic should then apply to Kang, as he is technically related to the Fantastic Four by blood like how the twins are related to Magneto by blood, but they are both primarily associated with the Avengers.
>>68274458
not him but if you can't see what he means you're either naive or ignorant
these flicks aren't made to be good pieces of cinema, they're made to generate a profit and move on to the next one
plots are heavily recycled, as is the 'wit' the makes characters INSTANTLY FUNNY AND GREAT, then throw in some useless bad guy with an incoherent plan (you don't have to pay writers as much if they don't spend ages thinking about what they write) and a bunch of disposable henchmen, something causes heroes to lose confidence, inspirational moment, the good guys win the following climactic battle, macguffin is neutralised, status quo restored, queue the after credits scene for the next flick
>>68274374
>You can say that from an artistic point of view they were bad movies
Except most of the people who analyze movies from artistic points of view don't say they are bad. The only people really bitching about Marvel movies are edgy contrarians.
Are Marvel Movies high art? Most probably aren't, but they do have artistic value none-the-less. And they are entertaining, which is all they need to be.
>>68273799
>Does that mean they are great movies? No. It just means I liked them. Quite a few people liked them.
How can you say this, and still call people DCuck when they say the same kind of thing?
>>68274581
>>68274599
It's not logic though, it's how the licensing is drawn up.
The twins were some sort of corporate oversight. If Kang's part of the F4 licensing then he's off-limits as a character until they can buy back those rights.
>>68272949
At this point it doesn't matter if a movie gets a rotten score, they're already set, a few bumps in the road mean nothing when they have guaranteed sucesses like Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Captain America and Guardians of the galaxy.
>>68274563
He's right though.
Do you think any of these blockbusters are made as art or something?
>>68274624
But by describing it like this you're throwing a blanket over all of the movies that is instantly disproven when you try to directly apply it to one of them. So I say again, go through each of those movies and explain to me how they all share your criteria. The only one that does is Avengers Age of Ultron and thats because its directed by Joss Whedon who is gone now. The rest dont, and since that is only 1/4 your generalization doesn't work and they are varied enough to keep audiences interested. Hence why right after AoU they released Ant-Man which is much smaller in scale.
Fuck you guys, it's gonna be funsies.
>>68274684
It sucks, I wish they had more consistent rules
>>68274624
The real problem are the audiences who see this shit.
I would love for Marvel films to be the true fun matinee flicks critics keep saying they are. But the last few Marvel movies I saw were just so flaccid and lacking any kind of soul or spectacle.
I guess what I want is a capeshit film that makes me feel that excitement of reading a marvel or DC comic when I was eight years old.
>>68274561
>Some people want films to be art
KEK
Cool story, but most of the people who say stupid shit like that, have no idea what "art" even is. They aren't artists, they don't have degrees in art, they don't study art. They are just faggots who confuse their opinion as art, because they think saying stupid shit like that makes their opinion more valuable. It's laughable nonsense to anyone who knows anything about art.
Are there some people with legitimate artistic complaints about whatever...sure. Are they on /tv/...FUCK NO. If you want art discussion go to a university or a gallery, not /tv/.
>>68274624
I always laugh at the fact that you guys seem so intelligent and with such high tastes in movies complain about capeshit, yet you are stupid enough to think this is going to change.
I also think that the people like you are the ones that consider themselves superior just because they watched the Criterion Collection.

>I also think that the people like you are the ones that consider themselves superior just because they watched the Criterion Collection.
I'm from the UK, I don't know what the criterion collection is, I assume it's some collection of movies that are considered arty or some such, regardless I'm sure that the majority of those films in the collection are better than capeflicks
>>68272988
WE MUST ALL FEAR THE GLOBAL CONSPIRACY AGAINST BAD MOVIES
>>68274654
DCucks don't say the same thing though. DCucks don't just say "we like these movies". >>68274890
>Even marvelcucks agree that Ultron was the worst shit
Cool story. I'll just wait for that citation. When did they agree? Was there some great marvel world congress where all the MarvelKeks reached consensus about AOU? Some big vote taken? Was this published in science or nature?
>>68275019
>Then why even bother complaining about it?
>It's been 8 years and you still haven given up?
I'm not really complaining about it, I was putting my point of view across to someone. I wasn't saying waaaahh, these movies are shit, waaahhhh, why can't they be good and real art. I was just stating why I personally don't like them. I suppose that's entirely dependant upon your point of view though.
>They are the starter-pack for pretentious teenagers who think they have some kind of superior taste.
Fair enough, still, depending on which movies they contain it's possible to argue that beginner good films are at least better than capeflicks for people getting into cinema.

So let's build a profile here
>16-22 years old
>Virgin, basement dweller
>Hates Disney-Marvel with every fibre of their being
>Is a DCuck
>Browses /pol/ and thinks "leftists" and jews control the media and academia
>Latches onto his whiteness as a point of pride as it's the only thing he has that he can find pride in
>Deeply contrarian to the point of insanity
>Hates TFA and defends the Star Wars prequels as unrecognised masterpieces
>Thinks Zack Snyder makes "capekino" and BvS is a good film
>Actually believes Disney is bribing a majority of independent reviewers across the world without anyone finding out
>He doesn't have any friends
Did I miss anything? Is this the average profile of the DCuck?

Or you could, you know, start threads about shit you'd like to talk about. Or do you just like to complain?
>>68272949
They can fuck up anytime, DR. Strange ( i want to see that actually) will prolly be their first bomb.
The hing with marvel is that they can afford a few bombs because they built a cinematic universe for years and we all know where they are going (infinity wars).
DC is fucked up, they can't even start a cinematic universe in the first place.

i could defend any marvel movie but AoU was utter shit senpai.
MoS was a great dragon ball live action movie, it just fails as a Superman movie.
same with BvS, could be a good movie with another writer.dingdingdingding

I wish MoS was a dragon ball movie. But Goku would never be as mopey as Superman is in that movie
