HEY YOU
>>68231811
Katherine Waterston was great in this. I'm looking forward to her performance in Alien: Covenant.
>>68231864
I liked her bush desu lad.
brolin was snubbed
inb4 "i hated this movie because joaquin phoenix mumbled the whole time and i had no idea what was going on"
I like everything by PTA but this film.

>>68231811

I don't like your boyfriend
I liked Belladonna
>>68232042
I still haven't seen it, what do you think is wrong with it?
>>68232174
Not if you're sober.
>>68232097
no way
no way

>>68232090

>>68231811
WHATCA GON DO
>>68232153
You mean Michelle Sinclair
>>68232090
\funnily enough, I adored it in cinemas, but not so much on DVD- I'm still gonna watch it again though
>>68232042
Same here. The weirdest thing about this one is PTA's own original goal with it. He said in an interview that he loved directing Inherent Vice because it was the funniest and most comedic movie he had made so far, which is odd considering that Punch Drunk Love or Boogie Nights arguably had actually comedic scenes compared to this confusing mess. Inherent Vice felt like a colossal waste of time.
>>68232397
so did The Long Goodbye but that ended up kino
>>68231811
I want this movie to exist as a cinematic universe but as a movie it just didn't spoon-fed me well enough to know how to recommend it to others.
>>68232202
t-that response makes no sense
One of my favorites by PTA, but Pinecone is also my favorite author
>>68231811
MRS. TOO GOOD TO LOOK MY WAY AND THAT'S COOL YOU WANT NOTHIN AT ALL TO DO WITH ME
The narraration ruins it.
Narraration ruins everything.
>>68231811
9/10 feet
Not to sound DUDE WEED LMAO, but you're literally supposed to appreciate Pynchon high.
He's that pothead brand of 60's postmodernism and loves the feeling of confusion.
>>68235849
I feel like most of Pinecone's work would be better as high budget /tv/ shows, I want to see V. on HBO for like 4 or 5 seasons that would be perfect.
>>68231811
goat soundtrack tbqh
>>68232397
If you find a film confusing and don't understand it you're not really in a good position to judge it.
>>68231981
That is about right, mumbling, stumbling, bumbling with non-stop new characters coming in making no sense. I like PTA's other films. This one is so bad, I thought I was going to hurl so I had to turn it off.
>>68237263
Honestly that's Pynchon's. He's known for having a million and one characters that show up once and are never heard from again, as well as a meandering non-plot.
>>68237449
Ok thanks, I figured the source material may have called for the strange plot. I just couldn't connect with a single thing going on.
Watching normies be exposed to Pynchon (even if it is Pynchonlite) like this has been a fucking pleasure. They get so frustrated, I love it.
>>68231811
film was a bit uneven in how it sometimes veered from the mumblecore quirky stoner vague semi-humor into outright slapstick, almost edgar wright comedy. pretty good time overall tho
I wouldn't have minded the purposefully confusing plot if it was consistently funny. The Martin Short bit in the middle is the only part of the movie that felt like it had a pulse, and even that wasn't particularly hilarious
>>68238549
Its not supposed to be funny ha-ha. Its on the absurd end of the comedy spectrum.
>>68238910
That can still create laughter though, and should. Whats the appeal if something is an absurd comedy but isn't funny?
IV shouldnt be watched to follow the plot or anything like that, its more about the feeling of the time and the movie
>>68238958
Not all comedy evokes a belly laugh anon.
>>68239378
I understand that, Inherent Vice didn't give me much of any laughs though.
>This entire scene
wew
>>68232397
that is weird since he left out a lot of comedic moments from the book and gave it more of a serious tone
>>68241283
my pee pee felt funny during that scene
It's like the Big Lebowski except Donnie's not real, but you have to figure that out on your own, and then you never find out what happens to Bunny.
>>68231811
easily my favorite pta movie
so comfy to watch this, easily in my top 20 of all time
>>68242222
Daisy a cute. CUTE!nice quads btw
>>68232090
>>68234161
>>68231811
To anyone who wasn't completely sold on their first viewing I recommend watching it again. You basically have to see it at least twice before you can even figure out what really happened and appreciate it. I love it more and more every time I see it.
>>68241283
>>68241283
extra wew when you've been in a love/hate relationship with a slut like that
>>68239519
>Even when I was alive they didn't know it was me.
That scene with Owen Wilson was p funny.
>>68243413
This
Also, read the book.
>>68232397
It's not the moment's, its the whole tone. The whole movie gave me the sense you get just before laughing. Like a tension of the absurd.
>>68241283
>the sound of the leather couch
great scene
I don't think people give this movie enough credit for how smart it is. It's a great metaphor for how the hippy movement was always bound to fail and never stood a chance against capitalism.
>>68231981
I hated this movie because it was a poor remake of The Big Lememeski.
>>68231811
This movies a twofer*
* you need to watch it twice to appreciate it
>>68243413
Lucky for me my BSplayer crashed 40 minutes in, and it blew my mind how much I caught in the first 10 minutes, so I just re-watched it from there. I also tried to show it to friend once but he was too high and fell asleep. Hurt my feelings and shit
>>68231864
i like her nips
>>68244088
Why not SENPAI?
