Revenge of the Sith had that mtv movie award thing which was funny at the time for a 16 year old me. Haven't watched it since though, an not sure how well it holds up.
The prequels brought us only the dankest of memes.

ROTS was objectively more memetic; all you need to do is a quick scan of /tv/ to see that. Stuff like High Ground and Sheevposting is pervasive. There was a months-long period last year where all you had to do was post a single sentence - any sentence - from ROTS in all caps with an accompanying image as an OP and you were guaranteed 300 replies.
TFA was probably a better (if blander and safer) film, but there wasn't a single "so cheesy everyone loves" it element that naturally caught fire in the same way as the entirety of the prequel trilogy, for better or worse.

I almost wish the prequels had a viewing culture around them that the room does. Midnight showings where people shout and make fun of the movie, cast and crew members coming to do Q&A, it'd be great if not for the inevitable autism it would bring from prequel defenders.
