Good movies by bad directors

Unbreakable was goat
>>
The only Shyamalan movie that is formally competent is the sixth sense.
>>
>>68221544

Sucker Punch.

oh wait.
>>
>>68221583
Sixth sense doesn't have good rewatch value. Unbreakable gets better the more I watch it again
>>
>bad director
>made a string of great films
nope
>>
>>68221583
6th sense was great.
Unbreakable was good.
Signs was meh.
Everything else fucking sucked.
>>
The Empire Strikes Back
>>
>>68221544

I enjoyed Unbreakable more than the 6th sense.

Too bad shamalam couldn't sustain his quality.
>>
>>68222425
Idk about his tv work, but yeah. Robocop 2 was okay at best and NSNA flat out sucked
>>
>>68221650
Same thing for me
Signs also gets better every time a re watch
>>
>>68222286
But the string of bad movies is bigger
>>
>>68222322
>tfw the mexican alien scene
I couldn't sleep for weeks.
>>
How was that horror movie he made recently?
>>
>>68222322
Signs was great. The Village was decent.
>>
>>68222610
This is, along with the dumpster scene in Mulholland, never fails to send shivers down my spine.
>>
>>68222624
The Visit is above okay, it made me remember why he was a famous new director at some point.
What happened to him? I followed his career since I was 11 and Sixth Sense came out, and every movie disappointed me more and more than the last one.
>>
>>68222610
Mexican alien scene? What one?

Signs had me too scared. The outline of the ayy on the barn roof, the leg in the cornfield, and of course the Mexicayyn scene. Chills just thinking about it. Shit ending though.
>>
The Matrix

the wachowski sisters got lucky with that, everything else is total and utter shit
>>
The Prestige t b h
>>
>>68222778
I'm not even aware of them having made other movies.
>>
George Lucas - American Graffitti
all downhill from there.
>>
>>68222827
>not THX 1138
>>
Unbreakable is probably my favourite super hero related film to this day.

Its not bound by a pre-existing story but still understands enough about comics to create an effective and unique origin story.

And the ending is probably the only time M Night incorporated a twist that both worked emotionally and made perfect sense for the story being told.
Its more rewatchable than The Sixth Sense too.

He means Brazilian.

This was a serious superhero movie done properly. Not grimdark, no quipshit, just in a grown-up way.

Terminator 2 would be a better example, as it is the superior movie
>>
>>68223358
would be true if not for the irritating child protagonist and cringe-worthy dialogue, or the awkward family drama crap that no one cares about. The first film is perfect, lean and to-the-point. T2 is just a remake with a bunch of unnecessary shit added on.

>he actually thinks the boy-and-his-robot wish fulfillment tale for kids is better than T1
>>
>>68223453
I think all the drama thing added a special taste in it
the Terminator's thumb up was priceless
>>
>>68223453

correct, the young dickbag John Connor is the worst John Connor in any Terminator movie. even the one in the Sarah Connor Chronicles wasnt as much of a dick .
>>
>>68223669
Scenes like that are enjoyable, but only for the camp value. T2 borders self-parody at times
>>
>>68223978
I really like Thomas Dekker as John Connor, he's a good actor and while he does play the "moody teenager" he never got on my nerves.

In T2 I can't help but cheer for the T-1000 to brutally murder that annoying little shit Edward Furlong
